Actually, This saber is VERY nice once you get it apart.
The Button mounting rings are actually metal! A nice touch!
The Creaky blade? well there is an easy explanation for it...
Most MR sabers (Luke ROTJ and Mace Windu Excluded) have TWO blade retention pins running completely through the blade holder. The Luke ANH only has one.
I did notice that there are a couple of pieces of foam attached to the blade holder, so without those in there, that thing must creak even WORSE than before! ::)
Another thing that I noticed when taking this saber apart, is that the clamp lever COULD be utilized for an AUXILIARY switch activator with a small amount of modification.
When you turn over the side bar with the lever attched to it, you will see a small post that is holing it firmly in place. If one were to dremel that post out, the Lever WILL swing! ;)
This leaves a nice little mounting hole for a low profile tactile switch... I don't think much more needs to be said here, other than: A CF WOULD WORK NICELY IN THIS HILT! 8)
Add a custom blade holder to this shell and you have the beginnings of a VERY awesome CF conversion, with a little tweaking...
There is a ton of room inside this saber once all of the MR guts have been removed. *Hint Hint Hint* (You reading me here Ben Kenobi? ;D )
