LDMCustomsabers Next Project, the Galen Marek Saber
« on: September 06, 2018, 11:41:25 PM »
Expect many new models this coming year.

Starting with the LDM version of Galen Marek's blade from TFU I.

There have been many versions of this saber created over the past few years.  I always felt as though I had some things that I felt were missing from those other designs (although some were awesome!)  With my current production capabilities, I am now able to make these a reality!  My original inspirations on this design come from Judgesabersmith, Obi-Dar and Vader's Vault (Each of whom have been kept in the loop during the design phase).  The game art and screen caps have also heavily influenced the design. Finally, many aspects of the design have come from direct measurements of a vintage Graflex hilt.  All of these factors yield a practical and beautiful design that is true to the game and the prop from which this saber was originally designed! These hilts will be as install-friendly as I can possibly make them.  We have spent a great deal of engineering time making this a reality because we want there to be something awesome that the Community can have that doesn't have to come from an unscrupulous vendor.

Here are the renders:

Pricing has yet to be determined, but they will be available through Korbanth and through my site (as completed sabers).

Nice!  Always good to have another option.

People may think of them as "just another option" until they actually get one into their hands and realize what they have been missing.  Seriously, these are going to be incredible and affordable.  Not a single product out there can currently claim BOTH of those things.

I will be keeping an eye on this.  Will you be giving updates here?

Yes indeed.  I will update all new projects here from now on.  I had a time where I just couldn't keep up with all the custom projects, but those have all been completed and as I transition into the larger scale production arena, I will make sure to keep my Fx family in the loop!

The specs look nice!

Just a quick note -- most right handed users will prefer that the covertech wheel be mounted closer to bottom right / 8 o'clock potion when viewing the saber from the pommel end.  This set-up lets the covertech wheel rest away from the wielder's palm.  The current 4 o'clock post will probably run into the base of right handed user fingers.

If the covertech wheel's position can be moved after the hilt is complete, then please disregard this post altogether :)

I made the effort to get as close to the game concept art as I could with the placement of the items.  Unfortunately not all art agrees!

Update:  These are within 3 weeks of being in stock.  Pricing will be in the $350 neighborhood for empties and start around $650 for installed versions through my site (Korbanth will sell the empties).  Yes, they will be cheaper to buy from me directly with electronics already installed than to buy empty and send it.  I will post pi of the final model when I have them here.

Note: I decided to leave the CT wheel out completely, that way people can put one if they want it and not put one if they don't!

Korbanth has been showing pre shipping pix around the interwebs.  I will post some once they arrive (of the final production model).  Getting close!

I have yet to see one of these properly built out.  Have you already installed & sold all of your inventory?

No, I have only built two and have yet to post them on my site yey, lol.  It is because I have been trying to stay on time with my other orders and don't want to hear the inevitable "how do you have time to post new stuff when my order isn't finished yet" comments, lol.

Here is a link to the finished weathered version adn the finished hero CS version:
