JB Kuma's Comlink
« on: September 24, 2017, 02:32:00 PM »
Inspired by DC's thermal detonator, and taking a break from making scratch built props and sabers, I decided to make a found parts communicator from some things I had banging around in my parts box.

Right now it's just a dumb batter and LED setup with no electronics (a stunt communicator??) but I may add some things later.

The weathering was fun and I'm really happy with the way it came out.  First I put some ink and paint on it in layers and wipes, then I shook it around in a box of metal parts, then I beat it up with a file.  Finally I hit it with some more ink and paint then a clear coat to seal it all in.

That's pretty sweet! Weathering is right up my alley ;) It's fun to step away from sabers and make something different every now and then.

Thanks for the shout out.

Thanks! Actually it's been mostly props lately, it was nice to work on something that fit on my desk!

This is awesome! A great addition to a Jedi or Sith utility belt. In fact, any Star Wars pilot or construction worker might have this on their belt as well.

I'm afraid the deflector shield with be quite operational when your friends arrive.
