I present: Agilis – An MHS saber featuring the DIYino programmable FX board

Specs:
Hilt is full MHS Parts from TCSS
RGB Tri-Cree 3-up main LED
In-hilt recharge system
7.4v Li-ion 1050mAh 14650 Battery Pack
DIYino sound board
Custom software with these features:
-Sound-synchronized Blade Ramp-up/Ramp-down
-Impact Flash
-Lockup
-Motion-activated blaster blocks
-4 sound fonts which each contain these sounds:
-- Power-up
-- Power-down
-- x8 Swing sounds
-- x8 Clash sounds
-- Lockup
-- Blaster Block
-4 quick-switch profiles
-136 possible color settings

For the uninitiated, the DIYino is an Arduino-compatible programmable FX board. A free open source saber software program is available for it, but I wanted to experiment with writing my own control logic. It was time consuming but rewarding. Once I got the software to perform decently I had to build a hilt worthy of it. I can safely say this is now my favorite saber in my collection. It's incredibly well balanced and easy to wield as well as having all the flexibility that comes with a programmable board inside it. Special thanks to Protonerd (a.k.a. Obi_1) for producing the board and to Neskweek on the Arduino forum for his contributions to the code.

I've got 4 fonts on it right now but the 2GB SD card is only ~15% full. Plenty of room for lots more! I'll probably never stop tinkering with this thing, but I felt it's good enough to show off. I hope you all enjoy and thanks for taking a look.

I love this one! Certainly one of the best color changing saber out there! And special thanks for making the USaber open source software, that is a giant step to further saber software innovation!

BTW< I haven't expected anything else from a software pro, but the saber you've built certainly caught me unprepared in a very positive way! Good job Jake!

Great work. Was the wood complicated to integrate to the metal? Did you have to treat it with something to avoid splinters and such?

Nah, it was easy. It's just an adhesive backed veneer. It stuck right to the MHS parts no problem. Thanks for looking.

I for one admire how all the external interfaces (like recharge port and switches) are organized in such a small space and so clean!

But for sure I also love wood as material, for such spiritual objects like lightsabers wood is a fitting material. I would like to see more saber hilts with wooden inlays/parts. If I were any good at carving wood, I would love to make a Darth Sidious saber with carving running the length of the hilt resembling the one on Palpatine's wall.
