  • Hello from France;)
    • Here is my website, based on my comic book.
Hi everybody!
At last, I've got it! It was really difficult from France, but finally, the franch "lucasfilm magazine" they just proposed it in the mail orders section! Wow! Plus, I could save extra manoy because of my SW Fan club membership. Great!

So, only 3 days after sending them my order, I get into my mailbox!!!

To be honest, I ordered it because I want it in my collection, and because it was the very last fx made by MR... And a strange one, almost came from nowhere, and, unexpected till the end... Came out like a rabbit from a hat.

So, when I was about to open the box, I really wasn't expecting so much thing from this FX. I thought apart myself, since a long time, that it as to looks toyish, with plastic parts. Like, here, not too many people seems to like it either, I wasn't really hoping a masterpiece of course!

AND... It isn't in fact!  Ha ha ha, I not a masterpiece, but, I do admit, maybe because I wasn'it expected a thing about it, but I was reaally pretty well surprised in fact!

A lot of stuff in the box, and a lot of combination to make the Lightsaber YOU want! there is more than 2000 different type of sabers you can make with it!

3 pommels
3 grips parts
3 activation box
3 top parts
3 emitters
a lot of attachs-clips
and of course 3 blades colours

It's amazing! Imagine, if every FSX-Sabers members had one, it could be possible that no one had the same one!!! Awesome!

So, about the parts... SOme of them looks really cheap, and toyish...But some others are, well, let'say:"okidoki". Not thrilling, but cool.

The best parts are really the metals parts: Pommels, and emitter . And One thing that surprised me the most was that those parts aren't just some "redo" of those existing! One looks like obi emitter, but it's NOIT the obi emitter ! It's the same for the rest of emitters and pommel! The nicest pommel, IMO, is the one that looks like Luke Rotj one. But it's really  smaller.

The blade is the stronger one of every FX I have. Stronger than Obi. I guess this is because it is shorter too!

The other point that surpised me was th intensity of the blade when I ignite it the first time! It's not as bright than a luxeon, but man, it's brighter in the bottom, near the emitter than every other FX, even with fresh batteries!
And it has ignition/rectraction effect too!!

The other good point is that you get an all new/never seen activation boxx, and a really good one to spin and figth with! Because it's a small circle push button that you cannot activate when your hand goes on it! The only way is to push it with one finger. At last, one FX that not switch off when you spin, or fight!

Talking about fight...For the first time, you don't have to be scare of breaking any leds in the strip !

So, I do have to admit that the "strange FX" surprised me  in a GOOD way!  It's really fun to try some mix and try to make an FX you like...

Hey dude, you're doing YOUR FX!!! Really cool!

In fact some parts could be used for some luxeon homemade lightsabers too! That's a good point too!

The sounds now..The loudder I've ever heard!!! Differents if you choose the red blade, or the blue/green blades.

So, in conclusion, this UFO FX isn't the nicest one, no doubt! It's the cheapest one, becasue the one that get the more plastic parts on it...But hey, it's the funnier I've ever had, And the better one to...FIGHT with!!!

Enjoy it!!!

Like Gayven, It's not my favorite, but I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Here is...MINE!;)

Hey there!

Nice review!  :) I can't form me an opinion about that fx...

Your review helps me, but I have still some questions:

1st: Does it feel like other MR's or rather "toyish"

2nd: Is there a way to make the blade detachable? A Tutorial would be good 8)

3rd: How long are Hilt and Blade in comparison to an regular fx and a Yoda?
You've made a picture, but you can't see the complete saber....

so  .....It would be very nice, if you could make comparison pics  :D ;D

Hey Anatim, I'm glad that my review helps you! I'm gonna make so additionnal Pics asap. Tomorrow morning I guess;)

To answer to your first question, Yes, it looks like a "little" more toyish than a usual FX, due to plastic parts. But nothing to compare with an hasbro lightsaber or stuff like that! It's a real good MR FX lightsaber, with a really nice sound, and a really effective ignition and retractation effect.
The "toyish look like" problem really depend of what parts you will use. IMO, the ones I've chosen for mine are those with which it looks the less toyish, and the more lightsaber.;)

But, I guess that my pics can tell that, no???
Master Obiwan, Thanks a lot! Do you have one of those???

Great review. I too bought this mainly because I wanted it in my collection as it is the last MR. Upon "playing" around with it......it is slowly becoming one of my faves. Mainly cuz it doesnt have to be the same saber every time. Get tired of one design??? Switch stuff around and make another. I also like the fact that I can do some dueling and not have to worry about busting LEDS. I have to agree with you on the sound. Much louder than most of my FX's.

+1 Taskmaster!
The more I use it, the more I like it;) It's a fun Lightsaber!;)

I've made an edit of my first message. I added a lot of pics, where I show size comparison , hilts and blades, with the Luke rotj and Yoda. I made sevral hilts too, in order to show you what kind of hilts you can get. I've made a Luke like, an obi like, an anakin like and a vador like. I took a close pic from the new emitter; never seen before.(the one I like the most).

I added a new vid too. I took it in a black room, and you'll see the ignition/retractation effect. I think that MR did a good job on that effect.;)

I hope you enjoy it.

its my first MR, but not because its my favorite.
its fun, and that's what i bought it for. also because its MR's latest/last.

i think anyone that enjoys MR products or just sabers in general should have at least one of these.
i might get another for duelling against the one i already have.
might also get additional ones just for parts (mostly guts) to use in MHS or custom sabers.

anyone tried throwing a lux III inside a joe yet to see what happens?

I recently discovered MR FX’s and within 3 weeks bought 3 (Luke, Vader, and Yoda). I saw these kits at Radio Shack and was on the fence about getting one. After holding the real deal it’s hard to pick up a plastic one. But they went on sale and I got one for my 19month old son. He loves it and carries it around all day long and I don’t worry about it like I would a real metal one. Anyway, it kinda grew on me so I got myself one. The parts fit but are a little loose. So, when I put mine together I slid a strip or 2 of paper over the tube before sliding the parts over. And WOW!! It’s a totally different saber. The paper acts as a “shim” and now the parts fit tight. And, to fix the little squeak that was left when the part rub at the seams, I used a candle and rubbed a little wax between the seam and no more squeak. If you have one of these you have got to do this. It really does make a dramatic difference in the feel of these. No more “toyish” feel. If fact it’s almost feels more solid then my other 3.
