Solved: Bridged Leads on Prizm
« on: March 06, 2018, 02:47:31 PM »
So, I'm getting ready to install a Prizm 5.1 today when I notice the legs on the chip nearest the speaker connection have a glob of solder bridging three out of four legs.  This is right out of the bag.  No soldering has been done on it or even near it.  I've done everything I can to remove it but there's still solder there that I can't remove. Any suggestions?

You know its rough if copper braid can't get it. I don't know if a pump would yield different results. Tried both I assume?

the 2 middle leas are bridge together it's normal. The one on the right side should be solo indeed.
Solder braid could fix it however it's possibly a manufacturing issue (solder paste deposit). Where did you purchase the board ?

I got it from TCSS.  I tried copper braid and suction but I couldn't pull the solder from behind the legs.

you might try by adding more solder then sucking again with brain. Never use a suction pump.
Otherwise, chewbacca (michael) can assist for a repair at our cost if it's a manufacturing issue (which it looks like it is)

I am not sure how this passed testing.  I am guessing it got mixed in with the good tested ones on accident when I was bagging.  I try to keep them all in different locations so this doesn't happen but it looks like it slipped through somehow.  First case I have seen.

Anyway, I will be glad to take care of it for you.  I will PM you the details.
