Announcing a new Korbanth saber run - for 2016
K Collection - Going to make a new run of some new sleek saber models, the run is now open for purchasing your sabers. Here are the specifics:
K4 - Machined / anodized aluminum saber handle, with replica AS Faucet knob pommel, Browning machine gun radiator gear, Graflex clamp, MKIII grenade piece, and (QTY 2) separate swap-able Derwendt emitters. Each, allowing for either 7/8" or 1" blade installation. Vented holes in the pommel make for a better sound system allowing electronics and sound boards easy access. K4 can produce both a beautiful, realistic prop and saber system. Pending saber smith's skills, she can be made to be either highly weathered or left as first created. This ANH style hilt has long been overdue.
Price is $225.00 and these will be in hand, late summer of 2016
OWK - This sleek machined / anodized aluminum saber, will come with (Qty 2) EP1 & EP2 versions of the pommel, "one with holes in the square areas and one without." - As with K4, she will also come with (Qty 2) 7/8" or 1" swap-able blade emitter flanges. For the finishing touch, she will have a removable jeweled purple half hemi - allowing its owner to make either TPM or AOTC version of hollow light up able saber (a RARE FIRST) . Perfect for any apprentice or master.

There is no limit on how many you can purchase. We need to achieve a minimum of 50+ units per saber, for the machine shop to start making the sabers...Postage will be collected later, I will combine postage if you want multiple, or different units. TO purchase your sabers,

These images above are what the units will look like, and more pics will be presented, and once we reach 50 sold units of each, work will begin, or the funds will be returned. Once work begins, after a month or so, a prototype will be shown and sent to me for preview, and if no changes are needed, work will continue. This run is about 75+ units only, so these will be presold faster than you think because I am opening this up to a FACEBOOK Group called Elite Lightsabers Society and my count from there is already 40-50 interested people, many of which are also on this forum too, but don't think you'll have a lot of time to decide...the fever that started last DECEMBER will continue all the way to ROGUE 1 movie in December where its confirmed, DARTH VADER will be the main Antagonist, with a rumored cameo of Ewan McGregor looking like Alec Guiness, wouldn't that be awesome... if you have questions for me, PM me here or for faster response, email me at korbanth47@gmail.com

This might be a silly question but is this the same OWK2 run that was started a couple of months ago? If so I'm still in but need to wait until monday before I can pay. Also is it me or do the black areas of the OWK look faded when compared to the Ben4?

thanks, I will update page post 2 with results of both runs - not taking deposits, I need the full payment in order to reserve your saber, this is the only way to achieve the required amount of 50 paid units to make the run go live...if I don't get 50 on each, the money comes back and we don't get that saber made...

As soon as you know the internal measurements of the K4 I would love to start sketching up my design for the chamber. DV6 is same as Graflex Im guessing so that's no prob to design, I have a 2.0 already.

I asked him this and he doesn't know yet. I had a Parks EL one quite a while ago that I regret selling... but if it's like that one it will be 7/8" from the blade through the grenade grip and then go to 1-1/8". The one I had was emitter, "vanes" slid over the blade holding tube that went inside the "grenade", grenade inside the part that spaced the clamp and was the booster, and finally the faucet knob.

yeah...that luke LS6 looks tasty! I'm sure that pre orders for that will be around the time frame displayed on the image...but, Oh yeah that would definitely look nice with a VV Photon blade... :wink:

all of them look amazing! that DV6 looks like something Lamborghini would design with that beautiful switch box! very sleek!
and for some reason the LS6 looks like a futuristic art deco saber...very refined in design...I just love how brute and massive the K4 looks though...that stole the show for me.

Well I for one really want an OWK however it may be mid to end of March before I can pay for it, but no later.

Randy, you're efforts are much appreciated. I'd like to offer a small suggestion to help the process go a little more smoother for those people who are having trouble with raising the money so it minimises this in the future if thats okay.
I've not been here too long but as my inner analyst takes over I noticed (perhaps its just me) that the ordering process sprung up as if it were overnight. I had my name down for one of these a while ago on the other thread and one day I came into work and logged into FX-Sabers to do some general saber reading (geek mode +9000). The original thread had changed its to "DELETE this thread - K4 and OWK run now live". After looking at "unread" posts (as I do) I noticed this thread and that you were asking for payment. I didn't know you'd be asking for payment so soon and without noticing any posts about the date of payment the timing had taken me by surprise somewhat. Maybe I missed a post where you mentioned that you'd be requesting payments in Feb, but if there wasn't such a mention it might explain why so many people aren't ready with the cash yet. I was fortunate enough to have some spare at the right time. It might be an idea to update the thread title for the thread that people have put their names down on with a "Payment required soon" notice along with a short update to the first page with more info and a link to the payment thread. Just as a heads up really. The last post by you in the original OWK thread said "February 10, 2016, 09:12:18 AM: still finalizing this run, will start the run probably next week, just getting final details". If this was the only post relating to payment and such it's understandable that some won't have cash spare. Again, maybe you did something like that and I missed it somewhere else. I just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents on the subject to maybe help in future.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to these bad boys arriving! Although I have no electronics for them yet I just want to feel them in my hands lol. Keep up the good work

this is the only way to make a run happen, its a group effort, I've foreshadowed this was ready to start for months, so I got the word and now its underway, so I cant be responsible for everyone's finances - if your ready to dive into the pool, then do, if you cant, I understand and say, we'll keep the water warm for you, for when you are ready, some of the units being offered are about 85% sold out...so I'll try to push up the ceiling if I can, but there is no guarantee, so do your best to raise the money.
If I waited until everyone was ready, the run would never happen, and if I waited for everyone to pay, the run would start later towards the end of the summer and we'd get the product next January...so for good of most, the run happens, with or without some people....hoping you can climb aboard, but no one will think any differently if you cant....take care and all these 4 sabers are now being officially started, so I will continue to sell slots in the run, so these may have slowed down, but eventually I'll sell all the slots, so keep in touch. I'll do updates every other 3-4 days now

I've already paid for the sabers I want. It's more for the benefit of people who weren't expecting the payments to be required when orders started. I wasn't suggesting either of the two options you mentioned for the same reasons as you've mentioned. I meant that if people had more of a heads up on when payment would be required they would have more time to prepare rather than scrambling to scrape together the funds at the last minute or waiting until payday. There was only 1 post within the thread which can easily be missed after other people add comments. Granted it was an update that indicated when orders would start but it's not very transparent which is why I suggested updating the topic title or first post to make it easier to find.
In any case it was just a suggestion based on the comments I've read from others who didn't have the money when orders started. I myself was a few days late for the same reason. Once again I'm thankful for your time and effort. My suggestion was only aimed at improving the process. MTFBWY

ok, in the first two weeks of the korbanth 2016 run, the statis is:
K4 saber - 65 of 75 sold
OWK saber - 43 of 75 sold
Both are now underway, and being worked on, so we'll see progress pics and some prototypes in a month or two, still lots of room left for those who want to jump in on this, for those who might have an OWK1, from previous run, remember, this OWK unit will now allow you to make your choice of TPM or AOTC version of saber, might not be a bad addition, and these are technically V2 versions...and K4 will come with both neck-emitters, one for blade and one for show.

So I've got 2 graflex 2.0s, and pre-orders for mpp,dv6, and k4. Really excited for and will eventually pre-order ls6 and Duke. Can anyone hype/sell me on getting a OWK? I kinda want it but I don't need it. I don't know if my feeling will change when I eventually rewatch episodes 1-3. Any amazing pics/vids that really showcase the awesomeness that is OWK?

The owk is by far my favourite saber hilt from the movies. There's a clip on YouTube where Ewan Mcgreggor chooses his hilt for episode 1 and he went for this one obviously. Check it out. I have both a graflex and mpp on order but mainly for bragging rights. Telling people I have vader and lukes lightsabers feels awesome, but the one that I can't wait to show them is the owk. Anybody I've shown the 4 saber hilts to (not always the regular star wars fans) have said they definitely prefer the look of the obi wan. I'm quite into aesthetics when it comes to objects and as such I choose what I buy very carefully. I don't have lots of cash to throw around so my list of sabers that I want to purchase/build is around 6. 3 of which will be built by JQ or VV. Of the 6, 2 of them use the owk. One will be a crystal reveal for display purposes hopefully.
In the end it's down to your preference and different factors will influence your decision than they do me. I know the owk in this run will be the most updated version and given the lead time on hilts i wanted to get in on it early before they're a pain to get hold of. If I had more money I'd order a few more of the same to build. The owk is going to be my first build so that's going to also hold some weight for me as the 1st. Money doesn't grow on trees though so what you choose to spend on is down to you. MTFBWY

Dx knows how badly I want an obfuscator. I missed out on one a short while ago. It's worth noting that if you want one when they make it again they will provide a hilt for you. Obviously it's a bit cheaper if you donate your own. I've yet to decide which way I want to go with my owk from this run

Current 3/27 update - drawings and measurements are now given to China to begin production
right now,
80 of 100 K4 sabers are sold - 20 are still up for presale

in a month or two, we'll get prototypes or (99% finished samples to show) and if nothing is needed to be changed, they will take a few months to produce the numbers, and send out to me, so I can send to those who've prepaid)

Haha too right waiting is hard, the Obi Wan hilts particularly the K4 are my most anticipated hilts, just love the designs and the way they cobbled together an awesome looking saber from those real world parts. Then again I'm looking forward to installing my Vader first as I can't wait to have a different blade colour and I can then have a light duel with my brother, re-enacting those scenes from ESB :grin:

judging by Korbanths previous (and current) saber runs...we can expect this saber to have the highest standards in build quality as well! also, these are just digital Images...the actual color and materials will look 100 times better in person!
also, how can you beat the option to interchange between 7/8" or 1" blades!

I agree with Erlomd, Korbanth Sabers are fantastic, still stoked with my ANH and ESB Graflex sabers, love the weight, the accuracy, the options for different configurations where necessary and the electronic friendlessness of them and they are a great bang for the buck!:)

not until I get prototype...its all out of my hands at this point, Parks designed them, and gives those designs to China...we are in the dark phase, where we see nothing yet for our efforts for a few months, after the project starts and then out of nowhere we see results...then it gets made...so when I know something, you'll know something

OWK - 74 of 125 - 51 slots open, still lots of these left
remember, OWK comes with two emitters and two pommels, not only can you swap out the emitter to accommodate either 7/8 blade but 1 inch blade too, and the 2 pommels (EP1 and EP2)
K4 also will have two swappable necks

since you can interchange the heads with a 7/8" or 1" blade that might be the extent of it... I just ordered a copper heat sink and a RB/RB/W Tri cree xpe2 from justin for this very saber!
I hope that it will be a heavy saber like Romans!

My bad started a landslide of questions in the dark period. The wait is part of the excitement, all these ideas going through my head. You get so many thoughts which turn into questions. Scrolling through previous build logs is great for inspiration. Better get back to my graflex 2.0 build.

I believe Korbanth said in the interest thread that there will be swappable flanges for 1" or 7/8", but also swappable necks for dueling strength or accuracy.

The reason being, I don't deal with heat sinks or LED assemblies.
I can only answer question # 3.
MPP - .883" Blade Bracket
DV6 - .883" Blade Bracket.
K1&2 - Main body has .883" ID. Emitter will be interchangeable with choice of .883" ID or 1.009" ID.
K4 - Main body has .883" ID. Emitter will be interchangeable with choice of .883" ID or 1.009" ID.

from what has been mentioned to us...it will come with a 7/8" and a 1" blade socket so that you can use the one which you prefer...thats it.

May 12 update - China is still working on all the prototypes for MPP 2.0, DV6, OWK and K4 - so they are multitasking right now, one division is working with the cad files for these 4 units making prototypes, while another group is making 50 more DM1 units while trying to push out the door a very large amount of Graflex 2.0 - so were keeping them busy

OWK saber unit is at 94 of 125 - so really, plenty of this model...a first time, I've ever seen the EP1 and EP2 version of this saber being made and interchangeable...just like the Graflex 2.0, you can make either TPM or AOTC version and wow will this be polished to incredibleness...go for padawan or make it a jedi master version
in case your following the MPP 2.0 and DV6 sabers - MPP 2.0 saber is at 148 of 150 and DV6 is 73 of 100

Quick question. Will these have the two transistor greeblies on the clamp? I didn't see any pics of that specific side in the renders.

China is working on this now, its different than previous built similar handles because of the ability to change out parts to make multiple versions...I realize this is the hardest part the waiting but once the prototypes are done, it goes VERY quickly at that stage, still looking for early September for sure, and the two sabers - K4 and OWK are coming before MPP 2.0 and DV6
currently over 128 K4 and 103 OWK are pre-sold, there is no maximum, whatever I have presold, that's what China will make and send, so best way to get secured in getting 1 or both is to pre-order it, and once they come in, I will send all out in a blaze of postage.

Has the OWK been redesigned? It looks a little closer to the proper dimensions than Park's "phaeton" which used to be not quite long enough. Or am I crazy? ;)

Excuse me if this has been addressed, but will the OWK TPM hilt have an alternate pommel that does not have speaker vent holes? I'd rather have a solid pommel and vent the sound out through the grips like the Orbital Machining version. Also, will this include a Parks style red pushbutton switch? Thank you.

Both these hilts look awesome. I have a few questions – I do not know if you have this information, but I thought I’ll ask anyway. K4: What is the (inside) length from the black grenade section to the pommel (when it is closed)? What is the (inside) depth of the emitter (for the blade)? OWK: What is the (inside) length of the hilt? (The reason for hesitating is that I would need 2*18650 batteries, and I do not think that the soundboard would fit on top of one of these).

once prototype comes in and we give it the two thumbs up, the manufacturing goes quickly, like only a few weeks, 90% of the harder work is the making of the first one, and then they just throw the switch and start the saber making machines.

starting to see some images of worked parts, so soon I will have something to show...China has upped my quantity because now we will have TCSS and parks carrying these saber hilts in lower numbers, just in case we get a huge amount of demand by the new movie end of the year, so its never been a matter of if, its just when...The machine shop is working on all the hilts, so good things take time, so hoping for very soon.

Randy will have them at the end of October ready to ship out. I'm not sure if that means people who haven't already ordered one can just buy one and have it sent at that time as well. I guess it depends if he has any left overs.

The update is this -
Since both myself and The Custom Saber shop went in together to buy these units in bulk, it is taking China a little longer to finish their "tooling" of the product, so instead of the original Aug/Sept dates, were dealing with Oct/Nov for the OWK and K4 units to get sent, and Nov/Dec for the MPP 2.0 and DV6 - but we have some pretty stiff guarantees and promises by China that by first week or December or so, ALL the sabers (OWK, K4, MPP, DV6 and DM1) will have been mailed....
doesn't mean they all mail in DECEMBER, but means what I've ordered will all have shipped by then, they've given us some pretty good assurances. we have the prototypes of K4, and OWK in hand, and will have images soon...and week or two later Prototypes of the others...so things are going to move into high gear on these projects...so when dealing with overseas manufacturing people, you don't always get things on time, but delays are common, and just like last year with Crossguards and Graflex 2.0 coming in right before The Force Awakens movie, sometimes better late than never...although my goal was to have them here way before December, it just isn't going to happen...but for those who understand this kind of business having delays, a few months off my original target is actually not too bad.
so thanks for being patient, and once I get images of prototypes, I'll post, and once these come in, you'll get an email from me asking for those who owe postage to take care of that....
once the orders come in and are filled, I will focus on 2017 saber run - until then, maintain the patience of a jedi and wait for these cool items, I have never let you down in the past and wont start now.

photos are starting to come in on product being machined...nothing really all that exciting, but once you start to see it begin to flow, it is usually not to far behind to where the parts are all done, and being assembled...so I've been promised that all product will be mailed from China to me in the next 6 weeks, so were getting close... sometimes projects are not on time, as my orders are not high on their list, they make them when they can. How could my orders not be important to them? because they have customers purchasing product worth 5-10x more value than me..its business, but things are moving along, and I think from what I've seen in the past, the patience will pay off.
I will be away over the next week on vacation with family, but when I come back, I should have some good images to post, so keep the faith.

Got my MPP and OWK yesterday and for the most part they're fantastic!
I'm not a fan of retention screw used for the MPP or the OWK alignment issue but someones suggested I sand the threads a little to fix the latter. They do look amazing though. It's my favourite hilt and holding it just feels epic!

Anybody have any tips on how to secure the wires in the MPP 2.0 for ESB config? Have a set from WannaWanga and the ones that came with but I'm struggling to get any of them to stay in the hilt.
