What's in your Everyday Carry?
« on: September 03, 2013, 06:40:24 PM »
So, I've been finding lately that more and more things are becoming vital to my daily activities, and I don't leave the house without any of them anymore.  This is my current daily carry and I wondered what everyone else can't leave the house without.

for starters, we've got my cell phone (with an uber extended battery), and 2 sets of car keys for the 2 cars I drive around.  Some cash and a wallet are other normal items I suppose.  A covertec clip is ALWAYS on my belt no matter where I'm going.  2 hex keys for 8-32 and 4-40 set screws, a folding knife with lever assisted action, a set of folding scissors, a flashlight, and a writing implement of some kind.

The phone is my old one, as I took the picture with my current phone, and I have 3 new additions on the way.  1 is a flashlight that's actually useful (olight i3s: runs on 1 AAA and outputs 80 lumens), another is a super small 16gb flash drive (price seems to be exponential from 16gb and up in such a small drive), and finally a fisher space pen and field notes (they go hand in hand).  The field notes are 3.5x5.5" and the pages are graph paper.  I find myself needing something to sketch on more and more when I'm out of the house and lets face it, smartphone notes are never good enough.  I'm sure I'll update this thread in the coming weeks when my new items come in, but for now, this is it.  A big part of getting the new stuff is heading back to school.  the flash drive is for a lab class that we need the data pulled off of the computer for our report, and the computer is not hooked up to the internet, so things like dropbox and standard email won't work.  The flashlight is for a night class I now have to go to (the little lighthound one isn't going to cut it at night in downtown akron) and the field notes are the perfect solution for me to actually keep track of things.  I never seem to be able to find the lists I make myself because I put them on random sheets of notebook paper and can't ever find them when I need them, and having graph paper in your pocket is simply a no-brainer for someone like me.

So, that's my EDC.  What's in yours?

Interesting...

When I was in CONUS, my everyday carry was:
- Surefire flashlight
- Benchmade tactical pen
- Keys
- Wallet
- Custom fixed blade knife
- HK 45c with spare mag (CCW permit)
- Cell phone

Now in Japan:
- Surefire flashlight
- Custom tactical pen
- Keys
- Wallet
- Small Swiss Army key ring utility tool (has small scissors, knife, and file)
- Cell phone

I'm curious, why do you wear a covertec?

Respectfully,

Also when acceptable my Sig P225 with spare mag loaded with Gold Dots.  Preferred holster is an IWB Hybrid
Level 2 my Maxpedition Foliage green Falcon II backpack
-pens
-Sharpie markers
-Band Aids
-phone charger
-Asus Transformer Tablet and charger
-USB flash drive
-often times my lunch
-assorted medications as needed

Level 3 is a tub in my car:
-6 ton jack
-2 gallons drinking water
-Gortex BDU
-emergency flares
-multi tip screw driver set
-adjustable wrench
-hammer
-elastic tie down cords
-washer fluid

I guess I got in the habit of carrying a covertec in high school, when I demonstrated my mhs saber almost every day, and I just never stopped.  That was also 50% lf what brought me to fx-sabers.  I wanted my sabers to #1: sound better and #2: have a removable blade so they could be worn.  a covertec stays more secure when empty than a d-ring as well.  so I guess that's where it originated.

I find I can never remember where I left it if I don't wear it, and while I have spares, I prefer not to need them.  Occasionally I'll bring a saber to class to show off (usually just my mhs saber for obvious reasons) and the belt clip is simply a must have for those occasions.

my level 2 varies depending on where I'm headed.  if it's to school, it's just books, a calculator, some water, a snack, and an umbrella (walking a mile from class to the car isn't fun in the rain).  usually a set of calipers, a ruler, and a tablet can be found on my level 2 as well.

I have one that is an automatic running a Valjoux 7750 and the face is made from a slice of a Gibbeon meteorite (not in the picture) that and my Brietling are the most expensive.

Apparently I forgot my car key fob thing, lol

I only carry my car keys, wallet, phone and watch... And even that I feel to be too much at times.

Don't know how some of you guys do it  :D

Level 1: Iphone, wallet, keys w/ a small led flashilight. Keep it all to a bare minimum. Wedding ring left at home today, oops.
Level 2: There's some stuff in my glove box, but the handle broke so current contents are unknown. Can't be important, though - spare business cards, pens, etc.
Level 3: Car trunk has some pens, assorted field measuring gear, CD's, the game discs for Diablo 2 I had loaned someone last year, a blanket, and assorted junk. Last time I opened the trunk something inside grunted what I think was "hello," so I don't go in there any more.

I have a Navitimer (the Cosmonaute A22322). I like Tag's but I feel like everyone that wants a nice watch gets a Tag because you can get them for a good price and they're really well regarded. That said, I still want a Carrera, haha

Right now I'm trying to fund two Hamiltons. I'm looking at an X-Copter and an X-Wing (not to mention a Jazzmaster, an X-Mach and an X-Patrol, haha).

Hopefully I can get that VZ sold so I can pick up one of them soon.

I'm a minimalist at heart, so I carry my car keys, and my iphone in a SafeWallet.

That's it. :)
