Neopixel NBV4
« on: August 19, 2018, 11:25:30 AM »
Hello there,

I’m trying to assemble a neopixel lightsaber with a nano biscotte v4.

When i tried a first raw test without altering the code in the board, the sound worked fine, but the neopixel strip didnt light up at all.

So i changed the code in the board to switch the ledstrip parameter to 288, the number of pixels in the 2 strips.

When i put the SD card back in the NBv4, i hear a periodic « clic, clic » and the activation switch doesn’t do anything.

Any idea about what i’m doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pixel limit is 180 and counts a single strip as they are in parallel

Hello Erv, thanks for the tip. I tried 144 previously and I had the same issue.

Just out of curiosity i used 144 again and it worked perfectly for a few seconds, but then I had the same noise again, with few first leds periodically flashing...

Just to give more info, i didnt change much in the code, except the ledstrip value, and switching scrolling up and down to 1 to allow the effect.

Your battery is probably giving up

How could that be? The battery is new.

It is supposed to discharge a 10A, and when I use the multimeter to check it, I have 4,1V. Doesn’t it mean it is fine?

I don't know, really. You might want to check that the SD card socket is ok as well, try booting the board by pressing on it. If you get a click click the board isn't booting, it can be a lot of things, power issues, SD card issues.

Well, here are sole updates.

I’ve purchased another battery, this one handling 20A. The problem stayed the same...

Maybe the board can’t handle the neopixel strips?! Theese are WS2813.

The board doesn't "handle" anything it's only generating the digital signal to drive delete strip.
If it worked first place then the board was working.
If now it only clicks the board doesn't boot. The sd card socket can be damaged or de soldered.
The click can also be your audio amp being damaged or fried
