SOLVED: Problem Charging
« on: September 17, 2019, 08:59:43 PM »
So I had the CFX wired up and ready to go and went to test charging. Everything was fine the first go around. Unfortunately, I had to do a tear down of the install to fix an inaccessible broken connection.

I then did a full install again and went to test charging. I inserted the plug into the port and the board powered on. I tried again and noticed that power would get cut with the plug partially plugged in but when fully inserted, the board powered on. So I did another disassembly and noticed I had the grounds wrong. Frustration and a late night got the best of me I suppose. I rewired everything correctly but the issue remains.

I just did another disassembly to check the port and plug with the multimeter and everything seems to be functioning properly.

Any ideas of other issues that may be causing this? I'll take a look over the board in the morning to see if I can find anything there, but figured I ask.

Thanks

Either small tab inside the recharge port isn't cutting fully or you have a ground return via the hilt.
Does it still happen outside of the hilt?

Yes, it's been tested outside of the hilt. All of the electronic components are housed in plastic parts. I guess it's the port or the plug. I have spares so I'll try some new ones.

Logical and very probably. Ports get damaged easily by fat plugs or kill keys, the little internal tab switch is fragile. Is that a switchcraft branded port?

It is indeed the port that is damaged in some way internally. Thanks for your help.
