It looks like there's a nut that simply screws on to the post.  It doesn't look like a panel or any kind of mount is needed.

Right. I meant does it require a mounting plate so that it can fit inside of a hilt - most of these types of switches are very deep/tall. For example, if you look at the pictures of the JQ sabers that have these switches, they all have mounting plates which are likely there to add depth for the switch.  ;)

Definitely see a little mace windu in that saber style. 
Love the chrome look, love the chasis, love the switch...what's not to love about it!
