I'm sorry if this is a dumb question ;but, can dogs get skin cancer going to the beach? If so how can you protect them?

I'm not a vet, but I do know that they can get sunburns. I had this happen to a dog once. It lied in its back too long in the sun. There was not enough fur on its belly to protect it. This doesn't happen to their backs generally because their fur protects them by proving shade the same way a head of hair does on humans.
