Quase-Luke... the new/old one
« on: August 26, 2008, 07:08:42 PM »
Yes another canibalized MHS project - but this time, it's special.  I've very proud of this saber, because I was able to apply almost all the knowledge that I've gained in my short time building custom sabers.  I proved - to myself - that I can accomplish exactly what I've planned and worked hard to accomplish.  There were certainly some hurdles to leap and some pains in my arse, but, as you can see - nothing insurmountable ;)

Specs:
Mostly MHS pieces
Custom Emitter/choke/ribber section/"single female" (cut down)
MR Luke ROTJ Pommel w/ screw-on attachment (also cut off), original speaker grill, resonance tube
CF V4
Li-Ion 18650 (x2) 7.4v, 2600mah battery pack
3mm LED bar graph (4x green)
3mm lowbat LED
Seoul P4 (green) run @ 1.2A
2 mini tactile push-buttons (long plunger type)
8ohm 1W speaker

Happiness...

mmmm...  pictures.  we like pictures.  Especially clicky ones....  mmmm.. yess.  *ahem*  sorry.  good build logs are hard to come by so forgive me for being overenthusiastic.  Great job my friend.  I love the thin to thinner neck style.  Makes it look more busy and handy to spin.  How is the balance?  Overall a great job man.  Give yourself a pat on the back.  Better than I can currently pull off, that's for sure.

Peace,
Silkvein

Thank you kindly, gents.  This was a labor of love - I wouldn't have put so much time into it if I didn't relish the process.

I'll be keeping this one - it's too personal - sorry ;(

Thanks Ben!  How's the David coming along?

It's not really that long, it's right about 12"... maybe a little bit longer than the norm... maybe it seems longer because it so skinny...

Thank you again gentlemen!  I will add that one of this things that I've leaned to pay attention to is how my hands fit the saber.

This one in particular was made so that my hand position would be not be hindered.  With my left hand on the lower hilt and my right hand holding the bump - this could possibly be the most comfortable saber EVER! 8)

I'm still waiting to try out a rebel... I have an rgb but not a single color... I've heard awesome things about rebels 8)

And, like the Mongrel post - one of a kind ;)  but I like this design, I might tackle it again some day.

:)
