Spark-gap reveal saber?
« on: July 10, 2017, 07:47:33 PM »
Has anybody tried putting in one of these inside or instead of a crystal chamber?

(Just one of them, not seven...)

Soooo a tesla coil saber?

How (im)perfect of a vacuum can a  blade tube take?

I thought piezo-electric would be cool if it could be constant/regular.

Those things are scary, I had seen them online for real cheap. Since most quartz isn't a great conductor, the bolts would probably dance across its surface if it was between the electrodes.

Are you familiar with Laserhacker.com? Another mad scientist with some novel stuff.

It occurs to me that with one of these things in the hilt, you don't really need a sound card anymore.
(You wouldn't hear it anyways...)

However, you could put two electrodes in a glass tube and have the sparks happen inside the glass tube.
The bottom electrode could be attached to a spring which makes the distance between the electrodes change as you swing the saber, varying the sound....

Or a Tesla-blade with UNLIMITED POWWWAAAA!!! Or just a few hundred electrical synapses lining the inside of said blade... Probably dangerous (but grabs soldering kit anyways)...
