Ultrasabers SS re-vamp, from Gemini Concepts
« on: October 11, 2010, 11:31:39 PM »
This was a hilt that USE to belong to OBI-WAN KENOBI. BARRISS OFFEE acquired it and use it during her training sessions, ...Im guessing.

Anyways, ...she mailed it to us to "make it all pretty" as she told me. I wasn't sure what she meant and I was out of ribbons and unicorns, so I just sent it over to Master Jedye to powder coat.
I asked that he cut a slit in the angle emitter, ....he took that to mean something entirely different, ...or just ignored my request and did what he wanted to do, .....which I think came out pretty nice.

ANNYWAYS, ...before we started on it, ...I suggested to BARRIS OFFEE to just let me buy it since there was kid in our area who really wanted one, and Halloween was approaching WAY to fast to have the acolytes ready.
She would not allow me to buy it if it was being donated.
So I guess long story short, ....BARRIS gave us a hilt to repair to give away to a kid in our area. Them Jedi chicks are so sweet!

Moving on:
Powder coated the hilt in a red/black theme, polished the hilt, and of course added my favorite accesory, ...1/8" automotive chrome trim and some new guts, (R/O LUX III LED).

Here it is:
Devin's SS Stunt Saber

Excuse the poor quality pictures, ...

Once again, thank you BARRIS OFFEE for donating the hilt and making a kid EXTREMELY happy. He'll actually be coming over tomorrow, so he'll get it then, ...might have some new pics later.

Right on. Looks great, guys.

Barriss...very great karma is heading your way, young lady. (I love it when kids get sabers donated to them!)

This is the old US Steel Stunt?
Wow! The cut in the emitter is really nice! There've been a lot of EXTREMELY kind actions happening here on the forums this past week; it's VERY touching to see so many kind gestures happen so often.

Beautiful mod! Very sharp, classy appeal. No doubt that lucky kid will cherish it and be the envy of all his friends.

The world may never know.   ;)

The Powdercoat is Black Lava and Solar Rain.
I did something a little different with this... and that was trimming lines with tape, as seen at the top of the emitter. (click on the pic)

Hadn't ever done it before... and didn't really think it would work.  But it did.

Turned out so lovely!  And yes, if you couldn't use ribbons and unicorns then donating it to a kid is the second best thing that could happen to it!

I sure hope I have some good Karma coming my way, I'm still working off the 'moving karma' from my 20s! Maybe this will go towards that!

Thanx SmokieWan,
yea, ..Auto trim has been a heavily used item by me, ..especially in my earlier builds and Ultrasaber Mods. It's something I keep going back to, makes great grips cuz is sorta rubbery, flexible and allows for a good, comfy grip without being slippery.

Good stuff.
