I know there have been a couple of shots of how the new Maul FX stands up to the LE but I wanted to add in an in-depth look. I would post my own review solely of the FX, but first, there are already several wonderful reviews up, and secondly, though I do drive past MR HQ all the time, I am on the other side of the country from their shipping depot and consequently didn't receive mine until after most others.
(There are two pics that I may replace and the both include other projects in the shot)
As always with my pics, please click on the thumbs for a larger version.
I started out with a wide shot, showcasing just how well the two line up:
Next we see the primary difference between the two, the sound holes, definitely a necessary evil, giving that controversial loud hum a chance to be heard:
You might have noticed the lighting doing odd things with the knurled knobs, these pics illustrate it is indeed just the lighting:
The single covertech on the LE reminded me to remove one of mine from the FX:
Another look at the covertech clips and the LEDs along the side:
And finally a look at all three of my full Maul incarnations.
In closing let me reiterate what the photos show, the Maul FX is
the most accurate FX made to date in terms of its LE, and by extension prop counterpart. If this is a sign of things to come we can indeed expect great things from the future of the FX line.
I'll be sure to update as I think of anything to add. If anyone has questions or would like to see a certain part in comparison I'll be glad to add more pictures as well.
