I love it, Sloth! Your build logs are always exciting, precise, and filled with yummy pictures! I'm a big fan of your sketches, also 8)
This might be the most incredible thing i've seen around here. Im going to go devour all of your old build logs, brb.
BEST luke v2 ever PERIOD!!
mindblowing
sloth you do realise thers money to be made in sabers?
Great work my friend. You really inspire!
I gotta say that is ridiculously awesome! Hands down, best LS6 I have ever seen. Question, how sturdy is the neck? Being all skinny and makin my Hasbros look like they need to go on a diet...
Must look away... This is amazing...
I cant tell you guys how many countless hours i have spent pouring over the details in his construction of these Master Epic Lightsabers, and i can only think. This guy basically sets up a road map on the constructions of his sabers. No secrets. No "Jedi" mind tricks. He lays it out there as a guide to show you what can be done....... And, like everyone out there I wish I could own one. If anybody has one, let me know. Sloth its BEAUTIFULL!!!!!!
Dang! I have retinal damage from a photo! Sir, your work is top notch!
Awesome thanks for the tutorial Brad! Such a huge thing you don't even know.
Heck the cfls is my favorite and I haven't even finished mine yet. I just LOVE string blades.
I thought blindness IS the point, Brad? Who needs eyes when it's so bright you can tell where it is just by its ambient heat output? :P
P.S. IWANTTHATSABERNOWNOWNOW
Stoked to see this! Seeing this next to the Obi ANH and Luke ROTJ will be breathtaking, not gonna lie. :o
I'm just going to say this and I know I'm going to get slapped with wet noodles, here goes... Has anyone tried to justify having a V2 in a blue blade like in the movie poster... I've thought about this so many times but I always surrender to the Green. I'm only bringing this up here cuz of the awesomeness of Sloth's V2
hey sloth, can I ask where you got the leds for this? I ordered some 60000 MCD leds from a website that were 8mm leds, but upon receiving them, it is clear that they are actually 10mm leds. I don't really want to keep guessing around so I figured I'd ask you. the highest MCD I can find in a 5mm led is 15000 so far.
Your tutorials are most helpful in construction of the led string. I'd never have been able to do it without some of your pointers and helpful tips, so thanks for taking the time to make the tutorial.
EDIT: Finally after hours of searching online, I found some 34000 mcd 5mm green leds, so I'm pretty well set now. I was just about to give up the search after posting here when I found them.

Those thin necks can be very sturdy, just ask Caine.

Here I am beginning the seriallel LED string construction, with my LEDS run across the belt sander to knock off the domed lens, for diffusion.

And the first set of bends on the leads...

Once you get them all soldered together, You'll end up with the positive track from the top section going to common positive, and the negative track of the top section soldered to the positive track of the flipped bottom section, and the negative track of the bottom section going to ground, or one of the channels on the CFLS

I'd say they're going to be bright enough. Probably the brightest LEDs I have worked with so far. This shot and the previous one were taken at the exact same exposure, if that tells you anything.
sloth can i ask what type of leds are these? are they just your standard 5mm leds that you can pick up anywhere or are these special high output leds of some sort?
