First update relates to the MKVI:

I will indeed be doing a new "production run" of MKVI's in 2013.  I am shooting for the end of the 1st Quarter or early in the 2nd Quarter.  I will take up to 10 deposits for "standard" level MKVI builds before then.  The non-refundable deposit is $100.  If for some reason I do NOT end up producing the sabers, I will refund all deposits, however if you back out the deposit is forfeit.  Sorry, but no selling of spots on these.  Pricing should be similar to what is posted now, but materials cost and greeblie cost could affect it somewhat so I am not promising that it will be the EXACT same.  A Crystal Shard version will also be available.  Pricing has yet to be set.  If you leave a deposit, you must specify which trim level you want at the time of deposit.

Those who wish to send a deposit should a) check my build log for space (remember, 10 slots for pre-sale only).  b) post in this thread. c) send the $100 to ldm.tcss_services@yahoo.com with a note stating your forum name and trim level of the MKVI that you want.

You may post questions here.  Just know that at some point I will consolidate all of them into this post and delete the originals (so your post count may go down a scoche, lol).

Will these be available as a V2 option too? :)

Possibly.  Pricing is not set though.  I understand that I did indeed turn some of the original units into V2's so that will also likely happen agian.

Will you make me a v2 with a CF6 & CEX ????

If Not put me down for a PCv2 and when can i send you the $100

Possibly.  I am not 100% sure that it will all fit.  I will have to test it out when I have hilts in hand.  Just know that the new group will be slightly redesigned for "ease of install" internally.  You can send the $100 whenever you like.  I will be listing the deposit paid list in my build log.

General,

If you are doing these, put me down for a MK VI, v3 with CS!  Just let me know how to send you funds.

Respectfully,
Sanjuro

No problem Sanjuro.  I will list those instructions above.

Hi there,
count me in for one MKVI Hero with a PC or CS board.
Moreove, I'd like to have the last spot for the MKIII, if still available. For this hilt I probably have to go with the basic option (otherwise I cannot afford it). If I can get the spot, is it possible to change the trim level later on?

Tham-Sai

General,

Quick question - if we go with the PC or CF, and the v3 version, will the arrows on the control box be made to flash?

Respectfully,
Sanjuro

Sanjuro, the v3 version doesn't have those arrows as it has a graflex clamp.

V1 "hero" has the arrows, v2 is the weathered version with the clamp, and v3 is pretty much the stock parks arc-wave.  Pretty much.

Tham-Sai spoke first.  There is one spot.  I will let both of you in. Send your deposits.

@everyone else...see the list in the build log.  It is up-to-date for the deposits that i have.

@Sanjuro...you want a V1/Hero (CF or PC can flash, CS will just light up).  I will confirm with everyone before anything is built, so nothing to worry about for any of you.

@everyone else, don't feel like if you don't send a deposit that you won't be able to get one.  There will not "only" be 10.  I opened a few deposit slots to help me keep track of the people who keep "bugging" me, lol.  It is just hard to remember who I "promise" one to so this just keeps it above board.  If 8 or 10 more people post interest here, I will think about taking more deposits (but I can't guarantee that I will).

General,

Very much appreciated!  Yes, a V1/Hero.  Might as well go all out this then.  CF with FoC and CeX (if CeX is possible).  Definitely LED flashing arrows.  Touch plate activation?

Thanks again!

Respectfully,
Sanjuro

I will not be offering CEX on these since it is a replica, but touch plate will be standard.  FoC will be a definite option.  Flashing arrows for sure.  I will get ot folks PM's tomorrow...had Baseball Board member initiation tonight...32 OZ adult beverages...even for me that is a bit too much...not thinking all that clearly right now...sorry everyone... :D

Is it possible to do a V2 with a visible crystal chamber? I'd probably just go with a PC as I'd like more of a canon hilt without blinkies.

Hi General,
I just sent you the deposit for the MKVI Hero (probably with PC maybe with CS) and also the deposit for the MKIII (probably basic version). It would be nice if you could confirm that you received the payment.

BTW, does the PC version of the MKVI Hero also have FoC and the blinking arrows?

I'm so happy that I made it  :D.

Ok No CEX :(

My order will now be a PCv2 or newest PC that is at time of build :)

Also will you offer the Tri leds ?

If i could order a custom i would totally pay the extra cost to get a GGR or GGB but if not the GGW will do me

Thanks

The PC version of either one can have FoC, but it is not standard.  I did indeed get your deposits and you have been added to the build log.

Tri-Rebel absolutely.  Customs...Likely, but there will be a special order fee of some kind (sorry).  When we get closer to the time, I will get with you and figure out what you want to do.

That goes for everyone...please don't barrage me with PM's about MKVI's.  I will announce when I have them and then we can discuss what everyone wants specifically (I may make a thread for each person just to not clutter my inbox).  Remember, we are at least 4 months from production even beginning so everyone please be patient.  This is a bit of a new system for me (everyone knows that I hate holding folks' money) so if it works well, I may employ it in the future. *fingers crossed*

Just wanted to apologize to the General for sending him a PM regarding a slot on the MKVI pre order. I got excited when I saw the opening, so I PM'd you right away, without seeing this thread first. I was just asking about the opening of a CS slot, but if its not in the cards for one more slot to open, please don't fret! :)

General, is touch plate activation going to be standard on all of them? cause I really want to get one but If I did I was thinking about getting the PC 2.0 version and I liked the 2 black switches on the side of the control box better, is this possible? In this case, I think I can fulfill one or two requests at most by using the two boxes I have from the first run.  So, in short..yes I can do it but not for everyone.

Yes, two pre-order spots left.

They are still the same place they were a week ago.  UNfortunately, I have had that darned bug that has been going around and can't seem to spend more than 20 minutes of my life at at time outside of the restroom.  Hopefully, I can get back going this weekend.  SOrry for the delay guys.

I actually have an update for the "Corrupted"...I have a claw design and have already ordered what I need, but it will likely delay her a few weeks to a month.  I believe it will be worth it though.

"Have I" is a relative term.  I currently have a full chambered MKIII under construction.  It has my type of core though, not Master Yoda's.  If you look through my gallery you can likely discern what it will look like ;)

The MKIII is an Episode III saber replica...although in it's stock form it is more of a clean episode IV saber, lol.  Although I would have to confirm it with Jeff Parks, I believe M=Movie, K=Kenobi and III is the third movie.  Now, I simply use MK as a naming convention ("Mark") for the saber generation.  At least that is how I did it for the MKVI...well, that and to keep my two most popular products with a certain level of similitude name-wise.  I know it is convoluted, but there it is.

Thx General Grievous. You must have been a teacher in college because not only can  I not spell , I need to learn to proof read as well. Yikes!  thank you for understanding what I intended to write. I need to remember what my college professor  would say "Write drunk but proofread sober"  anyway as I am finding my way around the forum I discovered that your build log is closed for the quarter. besides taking part in 1 of your runs is that,  and the occasional lightsaber that you post on your website the only way to buy a lightsaber from you?

...well, I have mentored a "few" young Doctors over the past decade, so I am frequently teaching in rounds.  As far as when/how to order from me, the easiest way is to simply contact me when the build log opens.  I am also always open to discussing projects.  My best guess is that the build log will indeed re-open on time (early April) for the 2nd Q.  I post here and in my blog when it opens (blog first).

Thank you For the explanation. Although I must say that the M, I would have guessed was master the K, I thought was Kenobi, no idea with the numbers stood for?  well if this were colllege and this was organic chemistry I probably would have stayed at the C range 1 of 3, or 33%

LOL, all Post-Doc. work is fascinating because you get to study what you want ;)  It was very, very interesting and is great to know how different toxins and disease processes affect the various organs in our bodies at the cellular level, the enzymatic processes disrupted by each and the interplay between that disruption and "normal" metabolism.  See? Fascinating. ;D

Good stuff Dottore. Of course you are right about the further you go the more interesting it gets, and because he gets more interesting it becomes easier in the sense.  Fat Ewok you just need to get through it. don't let it stop you from getting to your and goal it's just an optical right now. that being said Organic Chem change my life it got me out of medschool track.  I still kept my biology major , but the pain of chem, at least for me, not ...hmmm our friend here LDM  ;), led me to what a really like and it is still pretty tough but easier bc you enjoy the pain.  I help people with money :), it is enjoyable, just stick with it if it isneeded to get to where you really want to go. Ok...back to reality.   So the M in the Mk could really be Master then, not movie. You see some lasting effect of Chemistry, fascination with nomenclature :-\, lol

May I ask, if there still is the last slot open for an MKVI? I would like to buy a MKVI and it should have features like: Blinking-Triangle-Arrows, Movie flicker and FOC in a second color, would the PCv2 the correct choice?

I'm sorry but those 15 slots are all full.  This information is posted in my build log ;)  Now, just because you don't have a pre-order slot doesn't mean you will not be able to get one.  I will produce more than 15, I just don't feel comfortable taking more than 15 deposits, especially since this is still a number of months from even starting ;)

Being that it is now time for ME to pay the deposit on the new batch of MKVI's, I will sell one of my two personal MKVI hilts.  These are from the original batch and have the copper neck and box top.  Remember, the new run will have aluminum PC'd copper parts so I don't have to raise the prices (copper is wildly expensive at this point and nearly double what it was last time).

Here is how it is gonna go.  I want this one to be a CFv6 build.  Why?  I need cash to pay for all the new ones, lol.  that means I will offer it to the people on the list starting at the top.  The top spot does indeed happen to be a CF build, as does the second spot.  The Second spot will most likely take it if the first doesn't because that dude has been waiting like 2 years.  I would also prefer to use the stick switch arrangement on this build.  I just did Spaznick's today with the stock switches and it functions very well.  Finally, this will NOT be a V2.

Since those are the only two on the list for CF MKVI's, if neither one takes it I will build it and auction it.  If someone from the list buys it, I will deduct their deposit from the final price.

...and here is the list:

1.  Darth Smorgis (CFv6).--LOCKED & FINISHED
2.  C. Zhang (web) CF
3.  Sanjuro (CSv1...Hero version)
4.  Jin (CF)--LOCKED & FINISHED
5.  Kamakazykid
6.  scottjua PC
7.  VVENOM (V2)  PCv2 Pommel leds...TBD
8.  Mac23-PCv2 w/FoC
9.  DarthVix PC for now
10. Tham-Sai PC or CS
11. LUKE SKYWALKER
12. J. Lund (web) V2
13. Force Maverick
14. Kenobi2185
15. ScruffyNerfHerder PC (details later)

Ready...set...go.  :o  Darth Smorgis is on the clock...you have 3 days to decide.

You can switch me to a CFv6 too. If neither of the top three want a CF MKVI from the original run, I'll take it. Is the stick switch arrangement the one where the black buttons on the side of the box turn the saber on? That would be extra cool if it that was the case.

Edit: Just curious, but how much more would keeping the copper have cost?

Prices would have likely gone up at LEAST $100/saber.  I was floored by how much it went up.  Of course it has been since 2009 (when we bought the materials) but dang.  I was disappointed, but if we can ever find a deal on copper, I may take orders for copper necks/box tops for those who really want them.  I will add you to the list and get back to you after I talk with Smorgis ;)

Copper hovered at about $1.50/lb.  in 2005 it jumped to $4.00/lb.  except for a brief period in 2009 when it returned to $1.50/lb, the price has stayed at $4.00/lb.  if the copper parts went increased from $50 to $150, that makes sense -- if  each saber uses 30 lbs of copper each.  (I just made up the $50 value;  I have no  knowledge of the actual costs.)

My point is that the price of copper went up greatly, but that does not explain the price jump.  There is more to this story.  Maybe your supplier is gouging you.  Maybe the factory that makes your particular stock shut down...  I don't know, but it would be interesting to find out.

I am fully aware of the reasons 'why'.  Unfortunately there is a ton of waste on each neck AND each box top (meaning you need double the piece size plus extra to cut) and there are certain size/minimum requirements to purchase it.  It is also "machinable copper" which is much more expensive.  Anyone who machines copper knows this and knows why you don't use 'regular' copper to machine parts from ;) It is what it is.  I chose not to do it to keep the saber costs to my clients the same.  I am not willing to take a $85+ hit on each saber.  If I had to do that, I would simply not do them at all.

I don't want to imply that you are doing anything more than your best and most honest.  I was more musing on the state of (unstated) inflation.  This is not the right venue for this discussion, and I started it, but I just don't get how a base mattial cost can tripple and then all of the subsequent processing (labor) cost increases in a like percentage.  It just doesn't make sense.

I may have one more available for pre-availability.  It will be a CFv6 version with stock switches (although I did the nearly flush on the other 2 and they look awesome).  I will make that available (if I decide to let my very last one go) very soon.

Here is the updated list.  Machining of the hilts has begun.  There will be updates here as I have them.  All materials have been ordered and are actually in Wat's possession.

I will indeed be offering the final of the original group up for sale.  Those on the list get first dibs.  The details will be the same as the other two I did.  If nobody on this list wants it, I will offer it to the fellows from my website.  For those of you on the list who are undecided as to sound board, this one will be a CFv6 version only (just like below).  PM me if you want it.

LOL, no.  All 3 trim levels will be available.  The CF-only is for the one I have left.  I am using that to help me pay for the new ones, which is why it is the highest-end version.

I guess the cat is out of the proverbial bag and all, but yes there is indeed a true V2 version.  Those who ordered V2's will be getting these.  Those who ordered Heroes will get Heroes.  Yes, the dimensions are slightly different.  The MKVI V2 will be more like the V2 pictures that you all have seen in dimension, but there were a few parts that simply were not cost-effective to change (like the emitter).  No complaining that it isn't 100% accurate.  Just wait til you actually see them and impressed you shall be.

Cool pics.
Thanks for sharing with us.

I really do like the V2's just as much as the Hero's.  These should turn out great.

The time is rapidly approaching when I will begin production (in order) of the sabers on this list.  I need folks to confirm the details of their build with me.  PLease post IN THIS THREAD in the following format:

MKVI Style: Hero or V2
Soundboard: CF or PC or CS
FoC: yes or no
FoC die color request: red, white, blue
LED style: single dome (9W) or Tri-rebel (CS version is 9W only)

If you originally signed up for hero, you cannot change style.  I produced my #'s according to what folks signed up for.  V2 weathering will add $75 to the listed prices in the first post/my section/my site.

...and here is the list:

1.  Darth Smorgis (CFv6).--LOCKED & FINISHED
2.  C. Zhang (web) CF
3.  Sanjuro (CSv1...Hero version)
4.  Jin (CF)--LOCKED & FINISHED
5.  Kamakazykid
6.  scottjua PC
7.  VVENOM (V2)  PCv2 Pommel leds...TBD
8.  Mac23-PCv2 w/FoC
9.  DarthVix PC for now
10. Tham-Sai PC or CS
11. LUKE SKYWALKER
12. J. Lund (web) V2
13. Force Maverick
14. Kenobi2185
15. ScruffyNerfHerder PC (details later)
16. Caine CS

Green main with White FoC

Possible to do with no recharge port but with swappable 18500 battery?  All indicator LEDs only come on only when saber powered up?  (This has recently become my preferred set up for conventions and meetings as it allows me to change the battery on the go and keep the saber running).

Thanks!

The little LEDs used in this may render that impossible.  I am also not sure that I can fit that set-up effectively. I will look into it when yours comes up and if I can, I will.

@everyone else...don't be asking for a bunch of changes (seriously, please don't.  I engineered the installs on these so as to make production bearable for me and I need to be able to get through them in a reasonable amount of time).  Sanjuro gets special privileges because he is cooler than you. ;)

I know I'm not on the list, but I'd like one.  But with mine I'd like it impregnated with durinium, and instead of Li-ion, I'd like three D cells -- Duracell, of course -- an Obsidian board coupled with an Arduino that will run the arc welder attachment.  And I need this by Saber Con 1, in Antarctica. Of next Wednesday, whichever is soonest.

Oh!  I almost forgot!  The main must be Burple in color, and the FOC is Slurm colored, unless it is a prime number clash, in which case it should be in the X-Ray spectrum.

LOL, you guys are funny.

I of course am cool with whatever you choose to do. I have "been there, done that" many times over, so whatever you choose will work for me.  :) Just to satisfy my curiosity on the V2, tho:

1. Are you using PJ's cards or the standard circuit card?
2. Touch plate or buttons out of the clamp (I am assuming you were joking with Scruffy, lol)

And
- getting his dome nearly blown off in your X-wing,
- nearly drowning him on Dagobah,
- lending him to Han, who lets a stormtrooper basically blast his insides out

didn't help either. They probably had to remove the cool features to give him the extra armor to survive living with you.

LOL, you guys are funny.

I of course am cool with whatever you choose to do. I have "been there, done that" many times over, so whatever you choose will work for me.  :) Just to satisfy my curiosity on the V2, tho:

1. Are you using PJ's cards or the standard circuit card?
2. Touch plate or buttons out of the clamp (I am assuming you were joking with Scruffy, lol)

accurate 7-stripe PJ cards and Tri-rings.

CSv1 for you.  Yeah, I am messing with Scruff-ster, touch plate will prolly be fine ;)

As the dude below would say, "Perfectomundo!"

Been awhile since I had a V2 with that old school PJ card anyways.   ^-^

Just because I haven't come across the 9W before, what are the major differences the 9W and the Tri-Rebel and which company are the 9W from? If there's already been a discussion about the pros and cons of the 9W can you link me to it?

Cheers.

There has not been, nor is there likely to be, a discussion.  It is an LED that I have made for my clients' sabers.  Many of them are in the wild at this point, but in essence they are full 3W RGB (3W each) under one dome.  A souped up RGB Prolight would be an apt description.  I do most of my Red and Green bladed sabers with FoC with these LEDs.  If you want to see a saber with it, take a look at Sanjuro's new Malakyte and both of the Revans I just posted.  Each die is similar in brightness to a rebel.  I love them for this application in case anyone is wondering. ;)

Under the other end of the touch plate ;)  (Both switches under the touch plate).

Thanks fellas.  Now we just need Mac23 and I will have my list ready to print.  Wat is having some health problems and I am waiting on one more box before I may begin.  Hopefully he feels better soon.

I have the details from everyone.

A small-ish update.  I decided to roll on the V2's.  I was going to go in order, but with Wat's health issues holding up the final group of hero parts I decided to do the V2's.  The first one has been delivered to it's owner (Caine) and will be posted in the next few days.  J. Lund's V2 is also finished.  The next (and final) two from the list will happen this week.  I realize that some folks asked me to hold theirs back, but I simply have too many projects to do and will complete them anyways.  If folks need me to sit on them I will just have to do so.

Oh, the stated goal of creating the greatest V2 ever created to go along with the greatest Hero ever created...has been realized.  The V2's are incredible...and I may know a thing or 50,000 about V2's, lol.
