How to clean sabers, especially rubber grips?
« on: January 24, 2014, 08:00:54 AM »
I figured out that the hand-cleaining gel is perfect for the hilts, but the grip starts to sticky :(
What should I use for the grips?

Thanks your answer in advance.

maybe try some dish soap and a damp cloth?

another thing if it starts getting really sticky (probably a reaction to the rubber with hand moisture (oil/perspiration) .. so something like corn starch, like they put in vinyl and rubber gloves could work... though for safey, be sure to research that, because I could be wrong, I just know it worked for my old trials bike grips..

Necrothread, I know.

I want to add for anyone who comes across this problem that the dish detergent and rag (plus a little fingernail scraping) did the trick.  The grips are hard plastic with a rubbery coating as opposed to being rubber all the way through.  Once the coating that is breaking down is removed, it will be fine, but the smooth plastic is a wee slippery in hand.
