Mini mods?
« on: May 16, 2006, 05:30:18 PM »
Has anyone ever considered doing something with their minis? Buying a spare and making a keychain, perhaps?

The only one you could really even try to make into a keychain would be the yoda or sidous sabers.  The others are actually quite large.  I'm not sure how much modding you could even do.  The mini sabers are pretty solid pieces.

I've seen a Luke ROTJ made into a V2 on RS, was quite cool.

I went back and found the pic:

A V2 is the second version of Luke's ROTJ saber.  Seen in several key ROTJ scenes, such as when Luke catches it above the pit of Carkoon and on the Emperor's arm rest on board the Death Star two. Though it is similar to the Hero saber shown in close ups, it is most notably different by its weathered paint job and graflex clip (much like Obi's ANH saber)

For more info on the V2 see the Parts of SW page on it, here.

True indeed DS, the V2 was made from a second leftover ANH Obi stunt, while the first went to make what is know as the Luke ROTJ Stunt saber or the Ben/Luke Shared stunt saber.

I have bought a Count Dooku mini, and later on the Darth Tyranus mini, to have all Sith lightsabers mach with the "Darth" title ;) So I had the Count Dooku one spare, and I made into a keychain. I used clear plastic wire used on glasses and it was only a 5 minute job. Yes, it is quite large, but if you have many keys (like I) and also you want to remeber them, you need something big to remind them to you. Also, if people ask you every 10 minutes what exactly is this on your keys, you never forget them, believe me. Thus, I am satisfied with my choice.

I plan to make some EU .45 lightsabers.  I plan to use parts from actual MR .45s do this.

I  think the Luke ROTJ would make a cool green laser pointer while the Luke ESB would be cool as a lighter perhaps.

I picked up a ANH Luke at Tuesday Morning just for the intent on making it into a keychain.

Although it didn't require much modification to do so...just added a keyring and slipped it on with my car keys

I like to wear it hanging out of my pocket to resemble a lightsaber hanging from your belt.

Wow... you are such a geek.   J/K!!!!

I've thought about making a V2 mod.  But, as much as I love the .45s , there is no way I'd destroy 2 minis in the hope of makng one.
