Sid #1

As poorly guarded a secret as it is that I work with Korbanth on the recent Parks runs, I figure I may as well go ahead and post this for all to see.  Comments on the Sid hilt itself; It is "nice".  Much better finish over all than the Dukes (in general).  The Anodized Gold (Aluminum) Pommel and Emitter are a nice touch.  I would still not call these MR LE level, but they are still cool.  Next, they are FRIGGIN SMALL.  Make sure to watch the video to see a comparison of this Sid with a Duke and a Larbel EL-Ready TPM.  It is small enough that there is only 3 1/2" of internal real estate to work with (a 7/8" bore) which makes electronics choices exceptionally limited.  CS and NB will definitely fit, but battery choices are limited to 16430 and 18350...and that's it.  I made a double switch apparatus for this one (power and aux) that allowed me to flush the switches with the hilt itself.  They are silver and not horribly noticeable.  I used a Duke Optics module for this one...don't ask me for them right now because I don't have them, but I will get with my supplier about having another 50 made.  This particular saber is a full color changer, but that will not be what is offered on installs simply because of hte extra wiring needed in conjunction with the space restraints presented by these hilts.  That said, machining is much less obtrusive a process on these, with only switch holes and machining on the aluminum pommel necessary so that will keep install costs ~20% less than the Dukes.  This particular saber has had its shroud powder coated in bronze metallic and looks great.  The 2.1mm Recharge port/kill port is (as it will be in all installs) hidden.  It sits under the CSv2 and that seems to be the only legitimate place for it to sit if resonance is to be achieved.  Over all, this is a great little hilt and I know that people will enjoy them.  I will coordinate endorsed installs once these are ready to ship to clients and should have a 3 tiered pricing structure posted shortly.

The Particulars:
Korbanth Sid
CSv2, w/Ep. III Sidious and Ep II, Remastered (by Novastar)
9W RGB (R w/Yellow FoC and R w/TruPurple FoC)

18350 3.7V, 1200 mAh Li-ion w/hidden 2.1mm recharge/kill
Custom Optics Module
Metallic Bronze Powder Coat on "Shroud"

As always, a beautiful and inspiring build, General. Would love to see how you crammed all that stuff in there (It's gotta be the 4 arms ;)...) Really makes one think about the possibilities of the hilt in question. Very cool!

I actually had to rebuild it 3 times to get it right.  There is ZERO space.

I do not believe that would work.  At least not that I can see, especially if they are to be lit up.  I am sure that  someone will contradict me and say that "it is easy".  More power to that person and they can enjoy themselves.

A note on this...these do NOT come with the accent LEDs and it is a serious pain in the kiester to make those functional with the lack of room.

For cereal brotha.  People are gonna freak when they get these.  I thought for sure a 14500 would fit, but nope.  Sucks to have ot use a much more expensive special order battery for them, but it is what it is. :-\

GG, thanks for the heads up on the space limitations and battery size.

I say for those of us who prefer to do the install themselves, prepare to "Embrace the challenge"! :)

WOW, great job General! I really love how the powder coating you did on it came out. Bumps the awesome factor on that hilt big time.

That is great to see it working, and fantastic job on it Marc... So i have a few items to report on this so

1 - My supplier is providing red and green led's and bevels and will not be gluing them down, so will be loose
2 - I have a place that is reviewing for me, the prototype that came to me, on a few options, one is a mirror like polish that will resemble chrome dipping, for a very, very, very reasonable price, and second, a price on electro-plating as a backup, but I've been told these will polish up so well, you'd swear they are chrome dipped, I'll know in a week.

great job on the install.

Think that GG did a great poc instal for all of us to see, and I am sure will make more people wanting to get on this run now... ::)Adding to the news from korbanth that there is every chance for these to be chromed up its even more tempting for many. Great stuff!
