Title: SOLVED! Nbv4 constant reboot ,cycling through fonts.
Post by: JediCarpenter73 on August 08, 2019, 06:23:29 AM
Greetings! This is my first post but not my first build, before I get into the long list of every part that the build contains, I’m trying to discover If anyone else has had a similar issue.
Nbv4
Neopixel
Samsung 25amp 18650 new

Even with a fully charged battery, the moment I remove the charger or killl key, the saber boots and immediately cycles to the next font, and the next and the next , endlessly, until I put the charger or kill key back in.. I have found other posts with some random reboot issues so I did try stealing the card from a graflex neopixel that I did that’s been working for months.  Roughly the same result though it doesn’t get as far as the individual boot sound of the roar etc. nothing is loose and the card definitely seats deep  and strong in the socket.  The only thought I have at this point is the possibility that the switches could be momentary/latching and I’m just not able to interrupt the cycle by pressing at any point even though they were sold as momentary . While swapping the switch out is my next step if anybody has similar experience that would be great  to avoid unnecessary hacking. Thanks ,Marc

your activator switch or pad is most likely shorted permanently

Well I’m going to hope it’s the switch! Thanks for the input Erv!
And if it’s the pad, I still have two more and a prism 5.5 at home and the CFX on the way !

So my initial inspection, late last night and frustrated did not reveal to me that there was an errant strand of copper shorting ACT to the L2 pad.
Again, thanks to Erv for pointing me in the right direction, saved me some extra solder joints!
Hopefully my screw up saves someone else’s install down the road.
And thanks to 20x magnification for that one strand from 30awg!

Very happy you were able to spot it. Shorting strands are indeed common issues and the magnifier is your friend!
Have fun with your build!
