Todd: I'm using new Duracell Ultras. Still shows up all the dark spots between LEDs
where the Vader is more intense which makes the LEDs almost impossible to pick out.

IMO no matter what batteries you use...theres gonna be dark spots between the LED's. only way to get rid of this is to get a hyper blade....cause it blinds you, lol

Trust me, the Maul's dark spots are a LOT more noticiable than any other saber.
You can actually count 64 dark spots along each blade.
I think the LED's are underpowered.

Where did you get your Maul from?  If it was a local retailer you might want to consider an exchange.  I'm currently using regular Energizers, and as my pics illustrate the blade illumination of my Maul FX is nearly identical to that of my modified Vader.  You could also try out the new Duracell PowerPics batteries, but when I tried them they weren't much different than my Energizers.
On another note, my Maul's sounds seem to have become a little garbled.  I've dropped the saber on the grass a few times.. this has happened with the Anakin in the past and a battery swap usually does the trick.   :-\

The Vader's LED spots are only noticable when you look at it from an angle, but when its moving its fine. But who is going to look for them anyway? ;)

Try using Duracell Power Pix they sell them in AAA sizes, I use them for all my sabers and they work great, other members have tried and love them

True, and since my last post in this thread I can see what CW is talking about.  When I hold the Maul downward, some blotchiness is apparent.  During typical use, the blade looks fine.

i just bought my single bladed maul from borders, and the dark spots  are very visible. "dark spots" are really the wrong word because, like many others have said, you can see every space between the leds. the vader is way better.

by the way, best deal ever for a light saber. 70 dollars at borders.  id be way more pissed off if i had payed 120 dollars for the thing, but since i got it for such a good deal, i think im looking past the flaws alot more.

I'm sending mine back to MR for an exchange. One blade is scarred on the inside of the clear
around the saber from inside the hilt up about 5" or so.
They seem to be scuffed up quite bad as well. I have to say that after dealing with MR,
they seem to really go out of their way to make you happy. Great customer service!
Maybe I'll get lucky and my new Maul will be brighter. lol.

I wonder how the Obi-Wan blade will look....  ???

Hopefully it will at least look as good as the Anakin.

2010...I certainly hope it's better than 2009 was! ::)
10/10/10~Well, so far with my Father's passing away, I'd say that this year was actually worse than 2009, even the fact that I now have a full time job (For now) isn't anywhere near enough to make up for that...so...maybe 2011 will be better? I'm not holding my breath... ::)

Sifo: I saw the power pix batteries. Are they safe to use in the Maul? I'm not sure if they're alkaline.
I bought the Duracell Ultra Digitals and they dim the saber and burn out after about 15 minutes or so of
total on time. The saber seems to eat them alive.

The Maul definitely eats the AAA's faster than the AA models.. no real surprise there.  The Power Pics batteries are safe to use; I haven't checked what their actual voltage is, but it's probably no higher than 1.6.  FYI: I run the Vader FX (ANH Version) on a 6v setup and still haven't experienced any blowup issues.  The MR board will handle up to 6v before giving up the ghost.   ;)
