Wedge Antilles Scaled Helmet - mini review + pics
« on: October 05, 2007, 06:48:35 AM »
Hey there guys, i just recieved my first scaled helmet. :D  MR has now plans to offer 8 different helmets, with only 2 available now and 7 more to come.

Some quick thoughts:

Detail is awesome.  Padding inside and all.  Little microphone and chin holder, and very nice weathering on the Wedge helmet.
Visor retracts and the overall size is a little bigger than i thought.  This is a limited edition of 1500 and mine is number 1.  Ok they are not numbered, so i like to think it's # 1. lol
I like this helmet, the quality is very good and plan on getting the others as they come out.
Next is Shadow Stormtrooper  ;)

Also the seller was kind enough to include a scaled Medal of Yavin with the helmet!

So now to the clickable pics:

MTFBWY all.

Really nice!

I have the BHS mini on order but I haven't ordered a Wedge yet or any of the others. I have a Riddell Vader that I love though.

I'm going to try to wait until the "end" and get a Stormtrooper cheaper.

You should post some pics of the scaled MOY too!

Here is a list of all the mini helmets for those wondering:

Stormtrooper
Luke X-wing
Boba Fett
BHS Stormtrooper (General Con Exclusive)
Wedge X-wing (General Con Exclusive)
Clonetrooper
501st Legion Clonetrooper
Commander Gree Clonetrooper

Sorry, the front pictures are so blurry, i will post a nice one when i get back home.  (5 - 6 hours)

So Biggs, tell me,  are those riddell helmets out of production? hard to find?
Are they the same quality/size/style like the new MR ones?
pics? reviews? links?

hehehe, thanks man, i am interested in one Vader like the one you have. Anyway, thankyou for any info.

You bought that helmet over on the RS forums right? I think I remember someone selling the MOY + Wedge pair recently....

As for info....

Ask and ye shall receive!

http://web.ukonline.co.uk/bingo275/riddell.htm

http://www.sandtroopers.com/Jason/extensive/nexusattack/img/riddell/indexpt1.htm

Very detailed Riddell info.

MR bought the molds directly from Riddell so their X-Wing, Stormtrooper, and Boba Fett's are almost identical except for the bases. Riddell Bases have either the Rebel Alliance Symbol or the Empire Symbol on them. MR's have a little plaque.

MR is releasing C3P0 and Vader via Radioshack but they have sounds and CAN NOT be removed from their base. Also, the Vader IS NOT a reveal. From what I've seen over at the RS forums I think the Riddell C3P0 and Vader are better bets.

Check out this RS thread for more info (also for Vader Riddell pics)
http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB27&Number=2835202&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

Honestly you can probably pick up the Riddell Vader and C3PO for 40$ or less if you keep an eye out. I bought mine from an RPF member. He didn't have the box or paperwork but it's in perfect condition and I got it for 20$. Since I've got it "on display" of sorts beside my computer monitor I didn't really care if I had the box or not.

Thankyou for the info Biggs, i am on to a Vader Helmet now!!!

*puts on his boba fett helmet and goes out hunting!

edit:  i got the wedge helmet on ebay, maybe it was the same seller from RS.

and what does a REVEAL mean?¿!¿!¿  <------ ok got it, it splits in parts etc.

But now i am confused, which could be a better version.  Riddell's Vader reveal or MR's Vader with sounds.

we'll see.

Depends on what you want. The Riddell Vader is pretty cool. I like how you can take it apart like you see in ESB and ROTJ. Having sounds would be cool but I don't like how you can't take the RadioShack ones off of their base.

As far as C3P0 goes....technically it's a head not a helmet so I think I'd be more tempted to get the RadioShack version of that one. Just to note, the Riddell C3P0 also has light up eyes, just no sounds.

Very informative Biggs, Thankyou very much.

and yes i think you are right:  riddell Vader + MR 3PO would be the choice.

with a latter MR Vader add on perhaps.

thanks man!  8)
