[SOLVED]NBv4 2nd color channel not working
« on: April 29, 2018, 07:15:54 PM »
I have an NBv4 that has been abused a bit and moved from hilt to hilt. In the beginning, RGB was working using a PEx, but after moving it into the latest hilt, I can't get the 2nd channel to work, but the PEx still does. I know I have voltage all the way through the 2nd LED back to the channel 2 pin on the NB, because I can bridge from the 1st to 2nd channel pins on a color mix and #2 will work. This leads me to believe that I toasted something on the board for the channel 2 controller. Is there a way to verify this? I am good with a meter.

Hey Erv, sorry for taking so long with the reply.  Haven't had a chance to open this saber back up.  Excuse the shitty soldering, this was my first board.  The last 3 I did look MUCH better than this one.  Originally I soldered and used the prewired quick connect rail from TCSS, and it ended up with a loose pin connection on the switch wire terminal that I could not fix, so rather than taking off the whole assembly I just cut the top off the connector and soldered to those pins.  The reason for so much solder on the wire in question is I thought maybe the pin had somehow lost connection closer to the board, so I tried to just dab it right on top of the board, but also had a much less accurate soldering iron at the time. Also, the black gunk is from rubber splicing tape or electrical tape.

Anyway, as I said I know I have power flow back to the board on the side facing away from my connections.  So that is where I'm at.  Thanks for taking a look.

you ripped off the driver part of channel 2 on the bottom side of the PCB (3 leg footprint) which explains why it doesn't work.
