Alliance saber run machining updates
« on: September 01, 2010, 01:18:57 PM »
Here are the first batch of update pictures.

I have turned most of the major parts of the saber hilt.  Some of the parts (the two shroud pieces) need one more operation on the lathe.  Then the majprity of those parts need to see some time on the mill to finish the detail work.

Oh wow... that looks AWESOME!!!

It's starting to take shape... in "physical" form, and not just illustrations or computer generated images....

All of those hilts... getting more excited as we get closer.... :)

Nice to see how this is coming along.

Awesome!  I haven't gotten paid since June, and I still have a small bit of money specifically set aside for this.  Of course, now I'm about to start working again, so that won't be an issue for long...

It's a shame I missed out on this run.

It's a shame I missed out on this run.

Well, anyone who knows me, knows that I always make an extra or two.   ;)

There is still a chance you might get a chance to jump on board.

Ace...

Got to tell you after coming back from a gruelling Task Force in Puerto Rico, this is the first bit of exciting news I've had.  Beautiful design by JYN and fab'd by you.  Good times!

Again, I appoligize for the subpar pictures.  Flourescent shop lights and a 'just about dead' camera do not make good pictures.

Anyways, I have the inner section as well as the faux 'tsuka wrapped' sections finished.  I finished the sample outer shroud this evening.  I need to make some tweaks to the program to clean up some of the machining areas and to make less hand cleanup work for myself.  I need to have all three of thes epieces assembled so I can screw on the grip section and pommel to align them and mark them for mill work.

Hey Ace...

The images DO look good :) EVERYTHING looks good!!!

FYI....clicking on the images will show the proper length of the hilt... it might be my screen but the images seem squashed till you click on them. :)

And then when you do.... WOW!!!

Phenomenal job with the machining on these.... these updates are just building the excitement for this.... :)

Yeah, the forum automatically 'squashes' the pictures to fit what it wants on the post.  That is why I make the pics clicky.

This design is looking even cooler now that it's in the metal. Exciting run.
