Saw Star Wars in 1977 (when I was 9) and was obsessed (in greater or lesser degrees) with lightsabers ever since. I can still remember the first time I saw that scene where Ben hands Luke his fathers lightsaber... I wished I was Luke at that moment. Lightsabers are the most amazing things that never existed.
Took my (newly married at the time) wife to see the re-releases in 1997. Great experience. She didn't grow up with Star Wars but she has learned a lot and enjoys it (still thinks I'm kinda nerdy though). Now my 7 year old son and 9 year old daughter love all the Star Wars movies but expecially the OT! They love saying the lines, reenacting scenes, etc...
Now we'll be building some youngling training lightsabers with their own custom designed PVC hilts (resistor driven, no sound - Lux III) and I will continue with my vintage Graflex conversion (slowly, taking my time, waiting for the next batch of CF). Anyway, we have fun. We'll be watching the Clone Wars TV series on Fridays at Grandpa's house (my dad).
