I myself prefer to use a saberstaff. I wanted to know what others preferred too.
-
Single bladed saber all the way.
In viridian, please.
No shoto.
Although, some of my single blade sabers have Madcow's 'Shoto' font... which is awesome, btw!
-
Shoto for me :) I'm short.
Saber staff is also awesome.
-
My preference depends on the combat situation
one vs one - single blade or staff
one vs many - dual(twins or single with shoto) or staff
roaming around at a con looking awesome - single or staff
now I will give a preview, I am working on a project that will be the best parts of a staff and a single bladed saber
-
I vote for the single blade.
I do like the staffs and see there usefulness :maul:
I have used both :D.
I like a long/shoto form rather than just dual blades.

The staff with the shoto just feels awkward to me. I never could get used to the different blade lengths. It threw me off.

Project sounds like fun. Unfortunately I don't have the time or the resources to modify lightsabers. I wish you luck.

People tend to dis lightsabers because they're from a sci fi story. A lightsaber is a lethal weapon that deserves respect... even if it is made out of plastic.

Viridian? :o I thought you were all blue :P.
-
I prefer saber, but that is just because my background is in fencing so I have a lot more experience with sword, dual sword, and sword and dagger than with staff.
-
carry a staff, use one blade first, two if needed. once I have more 3 or more blades against me, I make a quick twist and unleash dual-wielded-fury on all who oppose me.

Always thought if I were a Knight, it would have to be blue.
But if I were a Master, I would want to have a viridian green blade.
-
Single blade, all the way! Easier to handle and more elegant in my opinion. :)
-
Definately single blade. Simple. Easier to weild than a staff. But it's deadly.
Yeah, Sidd, about your GF will hate you and your friends will not understand you, I can relate to your feeling. All of my family members thinks i'm crazy for collecting "plastic with neon light". My GF think I'm spending my money on a useless things. They are all thinks that I'm childish and stupid for collecting lightsabers. Hahaha.....
But, it's worth it...
-
I prefer a staff. Really need to work on getting one made one of these days. A Curved saber will come first.
-
Single, I'd probably kill myself with a staff (if it was real).
-
I'm going to add to this as i'd love to see more posts.
Personally I love the idea of a staff however, I have yet to make it useable in duels. Though i'm going to start practicing some form.
-
Single Blade. 32" blade for me.
-
bit of an odd one out here... but i tend to use my custom 'shoto staff' more than anything else.
hilt is only 14 inches long, with two 26 inch blades attached... it's a pretty unique style, but works well for me :)

Nice and different!
I like single hilts better even though I'm 6'3 and a double blade would probably be good for me.
-
DUAL WIELD SINGLE BLADES!!!! but I've always wanted to try out a staff saber!
-
Single saber. Two for those that are skilled at dual wielding.
-
Single blade, 36" long. I also like a slightly longer hilt, 11"-12" for a comfortable two hand grip, Katana style.
-
The character backstory that I'm working on is a Kanan-SW-Rebels-style order 66 survivor who uses a blaster most often to fit in but isn't afraid to pull out his single hilt when needed.
When it comes to staffs (staves?) the explanation I like comes from Lord Kas'im in the AWESOME Bane trilogy. I can't remember it word for word but it is essentially that the double bladed advantage is that it confuses the enemy but if the enemy realizes that when they know where one blade is, they automatically know where the other is then it's disadvantages are greater.
You were probably looking for a more practical answer but I just really love that trilogy.
-
double blade for sure,
probably because I practice the kungfu staff.
Think it simply looks cooler too :cheesy:

This will likely help you :)
