Gemini Concepts Presents, The Orion, a US2.5 saber.

Gemini Concepts Presents:
The Orion
A while back we ordered one of the grenade sections from Darth Vader and decided now was a good time to put it to good use. We had also acquired a few MHS pieces that were modified slightly. Nice pieces to use in a custom piece. Master Jedye cut out 8 rings of brass to use over the grenade section and a top ring for the blade holder. The rings are sanded down sinktubing and then powder coated in a Diamond, Acrylic gloss. The MHS pieces are are all powder coated in a mirror black. You'll notice that none of the rings and bands are screwed into the hilt. All pieces are epoxied in place to give the hilt a clean look. The soundboard is a US2.5 which is positioned in the grenade section. The button is a gold plated momentary A/V switch seated in a bezel. The battery pack is using 2 trustfires and is located at the gear section of the hilt along with the speaker and accent LED. The Main LED is a LUX V Green LED. The pommel is an AceRocket's Obi-Wan TPM pommel, (with the ring of squares Powder Coated in Trans Gold), once again, a really cool piece to have on ANY saber!

This was our first time using a US2.5, and I think the features are pretty good on the new board. I like the extra accent pads and it seems that they resolved the Flicker effect. The flicker effects seems to be much more smoother than before.
It also seems to be quite a bit louder than the 2.1/2.0.  The switch issue is also apparently resolved as I did not need to use a cap for this switch.
Good job Ultrasabers! Im liking the new boards!

That looks superb. Those rings really make the ribbed extension pop.

Thank you.  If I'm not mistaken, the bladeholder was made by Goodman.  We bought in a "lot" of MHS parts a while back.  It was seized on an extension piece and I almost gave up trying to remove them.  Then one day (with enough WD-40), it just slid right off like it never had a problem.   :D

The brass was polished in my usual fashion, with drill and fine grit sandpaper.  I went up to 2000 grit (wet).  Then continued for about 15 more minutes with the 2000 grit and Brasso.  Finished it up with some Flitz polish.  Came out pretty good, I think.

At first, I thought making the rings would be easy (it's just a ring   :-[ ).  But then, making 9 identical rings, all the same size, by hand with a dremel and a large metal file, turned out to actually be "work".   :D
Rewarding though.

Thanks for the compliments u all.

Using the new US2.5, I went into it with certain expectations, .....I can say that I am MOST pleased with the new board and so far, I can highly recommend them!

Getting the battery pack to fit, (mostly), in the gear section took quite a bit of sanding the interior of it. It is still a tight fit, but since this hilt has the recharge port feature, there is no reason to access the batteries for many years to come. This is "sealed" hilt.

And...um...does it have a buyer yet? ;D
;D
LOL, we haven't listed it yet and are still discussing prices, but we always entertain offers.  ;)

That is total awesome!

I do not like gold, but wow that thing looks amazing.  Great choices of how much of what finish where really makes the saber pop.

Again I am assured that there will be a Gemini Concepts saber in my collection.

Now to go buy the winning lottery ticket so I can order my whole collection tomorrow!

Nice work, nice work indeed.

Truly spectacular!  :o WOW!
To DREAM the IMPOSSIBLE DREAM. To FIGHT the unbeatable foe. To BEAR with unbearable sorrow. To RUN where the brave dare not go. To RIGHT the unrightable wrong. To LOVE, PURE AND CHASTE, FROM AFAR [-sigh-]. To TRY, when your arms are too weary; to REACH the unreachable Star!... This is my Quest; To follow that Star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far...
