K3GR1: Goodman's Advent
« on: November 07, 2009, 07:19:44 PM »
***READ IT ALL IF YOU DARE/CARE...VIDEOS ARE ON THE BOTTOM ;)***

I took on this K3GR1 Challenge as a "thank you" project to the JSSDC, using components that I have either bought from members, or elements/tricks that members have shared with me.  I'd like to think of this saber as an example of what inspiration and cooperation can yield when artisans stick together, share our ideas, and build our hobby as a team.

Here is my humble submission...

ADVENT

K3GR1 (thank you AceRocket for making it and Lord Dottore Matto for selling me one!)
CrystalFocus 4.2 (thank you Arkai)
Tri-Rebel CyanCyanWhite (thank you xwingband --one of only a handful of CCWs ever created IIRC)
Clash Flash w/ pX (thank you Erv)
Custom Battery pack (thank you Eastern57)
Tailored wiring (thank you Madcow)
Custom "G-Core Prix" (thank you Goodman  :005:)
Copper leafing on the G-Core (thank you Jon)
Rumble motor (low setting)

The bottom line is I modified every single stock piece. Every single one. Then I built up the interior so the entire saber is field strippable.

To the pics...

Tri-Rebel CCW:

Overall shot. I lathed down the area forward of the rear grip because I found it a little too thick. I splattered a trickle of my blood near the emitter to break up the "nice guy" feel of the saber...it ties in with the saber's backstory I'm writing...

Side shot. I plan to blast the recessed grooves on the main grip with glass bead, then sand to 1500 grit the raised areas back again. 'A little color/texture contrast.

BUT.... Pull off the front shroud and rear grip, and voila, there's the REAL meat of the project. Full G-Core Prix.

Core closeup:

Side close up:

Emitter closeup: (not pictured: matching E-Plug). The three vents are designed to light travels down indirectly through the shroud's cutout...giving the illusion of depth (instead of just drilling straight through both pieces in line with each other):

SABER ON!

Core:

Full:

Side.  I really like the "power gates"...those brass tubes. 'Another inspiration from the Graflex Challenge (sorry, 'forgot who to give kudos to). The Graflex knob is an homage to the original Lightsaber.

Side ignited:

Long shot:

Emitter:

Top shot:

My favorite shot:

I'll shoot a video tomorrow showing the Cyan with White Clash. It's delicious :)

Video 1 of 2: Discusses all the external/internal modifications

Video 2 of 2: Shows the Tri-Rebel CCW LED in action

Video 3 (bonus): Shows a neat saber combo... Tri-R CCW CFv4 K3GR1 and LedEngin 10W RGGB CFv4 Larbel Qui Gon, BOTH with clash flash setups

So much work, so much detail, so much win crammed into a 13" hilt.

This saber has it all. Beautiful and outside, astounding on the inside. Goodman, ....congrats on a superb build! This is great!

Gentlemen, Gentlemen... lets be honest with ourselves...  We'll never get Megan Fox or Jessica Biel... OR Goodie's Advent.

Lets just be thankful that they exist, and are available for our viewing pleasure. ;D

John, that is hands down the most incredible saber, rivaling some of Master Yoda's creations.  That G-core, CCW, everything is beyond incredible.  A+ my friend.

Now I see what you've been up to these last few weeks  ;)

You don't have to bash all our dreams in one night.  :D

I'm holding out for Jessica Alba anyway.  ;D

Seriously though this mini KP needs to be a run IMO.  ;)

I must repeat myself, dear John: your skills are awesome!  :o

The details, the hard work behind all that!  :P The "G-Core" is a great invention. Now I know what will be my next saber.  ::)  ;D

Are you competing with Yoda himself?  ;)

Bravo, really Bravo!

little OT: have you received my e-mails about the "initial saber cost"?  ;)

P.S.: hey, in your work passion, have you painted your fingers? ;D
