Troopre came by tonight (all the way from Baton Rouge) to pick up his pike.  He also brought his Shadow Guard outfit and WOW!!!!  It's FREAKING awesome. I almost forgot about the pike for minute!

Here's the pics....

Thanks again, Troopre! Hope you enjoy it!

Troopre, you look awesome!

I'm so sorry I couldn't be there see you in person, but hopefully I'll be back in your area again!

This is wonderful work gentlemen! Cheers for everyone, all around!

It is very nice.  Doing a bit of research it seems to be similar to the Japanese Naginata.. or European Glaive.. if that gives anyone an idea where to start looking at wielding techniques  ;D

I will say.. it is really fine!

Thanks again!

Congrats on this awesome pike Troope, and your costume looks fantastic too!

This pike could be used in a similar fashion to Naginata, though it's not the exact weapon family, it is close enough...

Here is a link to an example of Naginatado, a close cousin to the more widely known kendo. Even if you do not speak Japanese the vid offers some good visuals on some of the  basic movements of the style. The art is often practiced by women, as Naginata was a fovored choice of female members of Samurai households. the art is both elegant and brutal when practiced by skilled Naginatadoka.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me. Yo might also want to look at the Chinese Kwan Dao for inspiration...

Enjoy that new beauty! :)

Very very Awesome!  The machine work is just fantastic!  I'm actually in the design phase for something similar myslef.  The staff part of mine is going to be much shorter though, around 3 to 4 feet.  I also am lacking machining tools, so it is going to be made out of aluminum tubing.   :)

I will.  And thanks for the link to the video.  It should offer some basic techniques.
