SOLVED CFX constant sounds of clashing and swinging
« on: February 29, 2020, 11:50:29 PM »
I just wired my CFX for a pixel blade. There are constant clashing and swinging sounds when it is on. It has the most up to date firmware and sound files.

Update: it stopped making constant clashing and swing sounds, but now it makes no swing sounds. Everything else works fine.

You might have damaged the charge pump of the sensor. I put a possible fix in the file section of the official cfx group on Facebook (troubleshooting document). I have to place this here as well didn't have the time.
You might be able to fix it by replacing the gyro capacitor by a smaller value

Thanks for the quick response Erv. After reading those resources, it seems as though I need to send it in to get repaired. It seemed fine until I connected it to my computer through the USB port, then it went crazy, then stopped swinging. Funny thing is I have windows 7 and I can't even get the RICE program to work, so it was all for nothing. Thanks again, when I get it back I wont be connecting it to my USB port.

Windows 7 needs a driver for cfx.

I downloaded and installed the adafruit drivers and was able to manually assign the card to a com port and can get docklight to connect, but not the rice program. I might try again in the future, but I need to figure out how to get it fixed first. Thanks

as indicated in the manual and RICE help, you need to select the port before connecting, when in RICE
