Graflex 2.0 kit with full chassis build
« on: January 28, 2016, 05:55:07 PM »
so ive finally finished my first ever saber build and im pretty happy with how it turned out

http://

here is the full chassis build the final product end up looking slightly different  because the bolts were cut down and i moved the order around in the final build the recharge port is on the other end and the battery is butted against the bass speaker the other way as seen in the picters the way the chassis discs lined up the battery was butting up against the 7/8 socket ig the inner grenade section preventing the lower half from threading onall the way

http://

doing this allowed the NBv2 to be lower and making a bit more space

i aslo purchased a different clamp card that matched the gold clamp card seen in ESB and TFA
the card is from wannawanga

http//

i plan on posting pictures of the chassis that ended up inside in the end this is also a heads up for anyone who is planning on building the chassis that is above unsless anyone knows how to make that particular chassis fit cause i just cant find a way thats why i changed my design

looks good! how did the mounting of led/heatsink and lens go? I ordered a kit but haven't received it yet. Also what led did you go with? a tri or single?

well ive seen lots of videos where people strip the graflex and drill a hole in the grenade section to give room to pass the switch wiers past the heat sink and LED i didnt do that how ever since im not using it was a dueling saber  all i did was pass 28g wires through the hole after soldering them to one of the tactile switches that are provided

as for the led i used a single cree copper nova (blue) you can find a 7/8 heat sink at TCSS if im not mistaken they have them how ever i only had a 1 inch one so all i did was grind it down and pass the (+) and (-) for the LED and switch wires  through 2  of the holes on the heat sink (2 wires each) and the last 24 took the 4 prong from the LED holder from TCSS coupled with a LED lense to tie it all together and a restor on the (+) LED wire it was a nice snug fit and im happy with how it turned out

here are the lens and lens holder and copper nova that i used from TCSS

Beautiful Ken! really like the blade plug, think I will do one for mine as well.
Can't wait to get started on mine, just got to clear a good space to work in the garage and then I can get started!

That looks great. I am still waiting on parts so I can start my Graflex 2.0 build. I had the same idea to replace the clamp card for a more accurate one, I have mine on order now. It will also be my first saber build. Any tips for a fellow first timer?

I noticed that you used the notched grips, any tips on how to get the pommel out? Been trying to get it out so I can install the grips on the side I want but I'm afraid of using too much force and accidentally breaking something.

id say number one thing is to measure everything before you put it all together i had to take a part the chassis a few time and try a few styles until i got it to fit

you don't really need to unscrew the pommel out to install the grips it can he done with out doing so as for getting it out i attached the d-ring and used that ti help unscrew it it was very tight for me as well if you till can't get it off id try some WD-40 that should help

yeah, I was going to say the same thing - the graflex 2.0 back end has 7 holes on one end, and 6 holes on the other, its kinda random on which way it will come, so you cant remove the end-cap, unless you attach the ESB D-ring, and use that to hold onto and unscrew your end cap, so then you can place it on the correct end you want to go with.

so many people have started to peel and stick the esb grips only to discover they used the wrong end, that has 7 holes and they email me to say they are missing a 7th ESB grip and after I explain that each end has 6 and 7 holes, they feel just horrible because the grips are really meant to be peel and stick one time only...I sure wish I would have put instructions in there, but there was just so many to send, I just figured people would figure it out on their own, but not everyone did...

Oh man, I feel bad for the people who messed up the grips

Thanks for confirming that using the ESB D-ring is THE way to remove the end cap!

a little tiny bit of machine oil on those threads once you get it off is a good idea.  :azn:

The 4 brass pins, are they screwed in?  If so that's a small ratchet set I'll need to buy. My Korbanth came with those assembled.  I'm just now taking them apart.

Yeah I was taking it apart to drill a hole for the button wires, possible heatsink screw, and for the 4-40 tap for the goth padawan chassis.
