OK, here are the entrants for the 2020 FX-Sabers Flashgun Challenge contest.
You all get two votes (which can’t be changed, so choose wisely) to vote for your favorite two entrants. The poll will close in two weeks (October 23) and either I or one of the FX Admins will officially announce the winners when the time comes.
Let the game begin. :police:

Good luck to everyone!!!
-
How am I meant to pick only 2!
Everyone of these is a winner in my book!
Good luck guys, I'm not voting yet as I need to mull this over
-
Wow! I second Bombarta, these are all winners. Excellent work all round, chaps. real top notch all round.
I think I have an educated guess as to who submitted what, but I'll keep my opinions to myself
-
Agreed, this is going to be tougher than I thought.
I like that each one has a little something extra, almost like a bonus, if you look closely, you can see something that doesn't appear in the wide shots... maker's marks, greeblie details, weathering detail...
Well played, chaps - Fan-[censored]-tastic!

Oh man, I can't stop looking at them all. They all have such unique features, and they're all so different. I, too, think I know who's is who's but I'll save the tell-tale tells 'till teatime.
I have to say, I am actually surprised at the variety of aesthetics, shapes and choice of electronics - it's awesome to see new custom lightsabers designs from old flashgun parts. I don't know what I was really expecting... I'm not familiar with all your styles... but I'll at least say that this has exceeded those non-descript expectations.
Thank you all, again (and probably again later) for participating, and everyone who's been on the journey with us through this confusing year... this has given me the good feels that I've been sorely missing. :afro:
-
Amazing job all...while there are less entries than I was expecting, these are some pretty amazing sabers!
-
Yes @eastern57 i think there are telltale signs who made what
But I won't mention why as that gives the game away.
I still haven't voted I, just keep coming back and looking  and then looking some more.
This has it all, from the subtle to super creatively wild all worthy of a Sith or Jedi to wield.
-
To be clear, in case it isn’t, the voting is open to ALL MEMBERSHIP.

These are all so beautiful.
Regardless of who wins this, I just want to say well done to all!!

It’s on the news banner, and it can be seen in the recent posts. Other than advertising on CNN, I think we’ve covered most of the bases. I’ll try to get it on FB, but that’s past even my control.
-
Well indeed it is. I don't think I've ever paid attention to that banner, I will now.
-
Nice job guys. All are great!
-
Some amazing work here! It was hard to decide. The only way to manage was to narrow it down sabers I personally would most like to own, although even that was a hard choice. They're all so cool!
Good luck to all the entrants!
-
Thanks guys! :afro:
Also, make sure you catch our Space Windu/Exar Kun-hosted group chat/podcast on his channel 24 October. #FlashgunChallenge

I only get two votes? None of you are making this easy

Great Job by all!

Great job guys. Love all the originality!

Oh man, the Icon. Perfection, sheer perfection. The worn down grip section is sublime.

So, FJK, what's the rules if there's a draw? Winner decided by duel?

Woooo! Way to go, Idaho! (Toy Story ref) :cheesy:
Congratulations, Mr. Spacxar Winkun! You beat me fair and square - [hands over metaphoric keys to the Falcon]
Thanks, yet again, to everyone for making this a mind-expanding success! My respect for everyone involved has grown and I now have a healthy level of fear were I to enter another challenge contest with any of you again. :afro:
Props to all!
-
Btw, I'm kind of guessing that it was Space. :cheesy: I think that's his workbench.
Here's my guess:
Canon - Iggy
Desert - Scott
Exo - Space
icon - me (correct)
Wetzlar - Steve
Young - Bomb
amirite?
-
Yeah it was fun, my saber was super low key as I was limited with what I could do as, it is a commission for a 6 year olds Christmas present :azn: so had to keep good ergonomics. It will be winging its way to the States after Tomorrow's sabertalk.
Eastern's comp idea came along right as I was going to start on the build.
-
Hey, coincidentally convenient! It was a perfect size platform for a padawan hilt. Nice!
Funnily enough, I had actually just finished a lightsaber for a 6 year old when I proposed the challenge. :azn: It used a similar finishing style as icon, so I didn't post it.
-

Here's my guess:

You got 4/6 right,
-
I had space and eastern swapped.....I was happy to get any votes, and you had me right. Curious if it was based on the background in the one pic that was similar to the droid terminal shot I recently shared? Or if East just used the force to get two thirds correct?
I’m sure will will discuss more tomorrow, but I was stunned by the exo, but the icon was my pick...I appreciate the intricate work, bu my style is small, sleek and simple (what I was going for with mine.) I want an Icon!
Again, nice work all, and super fun...looking forward to the next one...toaster challenge?
-

You got 4/6 right,
Ah, must be Iggy and Steve. I'm guessing Steve got a white board and a new phone since this summer. Curses, I should have seen that.
Everyone else had definite tells. ;) But I'll save that discussion for tomorrow.
-
My educated deductions were
Canon: ?
Desert: Scott- because the description mentioned a self printed chassis, that looked awfully like resin to my eyes, and Scott mentioned having a resin printer
Exo: Spaxar Winkundu-because neopixels everywhere
Icon: E57- I'd recognise that paint/powdercoat over metal foil tape anywhere
Wetzlar ?
Youngling: Bombarta- the shapeways chassis just reminded me of another one of his, but I can't recall which now.
Congrats to everyone, this was an awesome distraction from *waves at 2020 in general*
Right, break's over, back to my soldering iron.
-
I’m still interested in Easterns tells, but as he said, have to wait till the am, or pm for our international division...
-
On behalf of the staff, congratulations to the winner and all of the other participants of this contest as well.
-
Canyon was yours truly. I decided to throw something together one weekend, I just happen to have a flash laying around. It was fun to enter and thanks again FJK for hosting the contest. Congratulations to the winners, excellent work!

Realized Harris and I won late in the day when he called. Thank you to everyone who participated this was such a fun contest. I'm so excited for the turnout we got and the entries were all awesome. I guessed a few of the entrants such as Eastern's because of the layered over grip and 4-5 days into the contest I guessed Bombarta's, although I'm not sure why, I liked it very much and hoped it was Bomb's and then I deduced it must be his (Youngling). I'm surprised to find out JediSeth entered but I don't know if I would have guessed correctly on any of the others. Maybe let's do another one next year ending around the same time with a different theme. Very very fun times and it will continue tomorrow in the live stream I hope everyone can attend! Hopefully we picked a good time for everyone and we will stay on a while so drop in to check if we are still there if you're running late I'd love to see a nice FX-Sabers turnout at the live event. Let's discuss how we came up with these entries:

Say Wha?! Tricksey little memberses. Great job, Seth, it was one of my votes. Now that you're outed, I can see the tells, but without a tip that you're playing, I never would have guessed it was you.
P.s. is it Canon or Canyon?
-
Nice! I genuinely thought the Canon was Darth Chasm sneaking an entry in. It reminded me a lot of his DCLS 002, so much so that I figured he'd found a way to recreate it using vintage parts only.

I was thinking that, too!

Dang, man. That was fun. #GoodTimes.
Thanks again, Mr. Spacxar, you're a good host. :afro:
-
I second that sentiment...was definitely great to put faces (or voices) to the FX handles. Thanks to Space for producing and to FJK for administering the challenge....and East for having the idea in the first place!

Thanks Scott, that was a really fun show and great to get a crew together for the contest. Made some fun memories in a year when great experiences were a bit harder to come by
-
Agreed. It was nice to put faces and voices to usernames. Thanks for having us.
Oh, and sorry if I sounded like a blithering idiot when I joined the stream, I was dealing with this annoying echo that was caused by me having the livestream open on youtube in a second tab.

No worries my friend it was wonderful to see you and also a total thrill to see your amazing 'almost entry.' I love the design and your execution is better than Apple computer.
FJK: Was great to meet you and talk to you like that even though we've been friends for a few years now, I've not talked to you live yet. That was a lot of fun you're an awesome dude.
Eastern: Same goes for you as we've been friends for even longer yet we've not had a conversation like that yet. It was a great fun.
Bombarta: I've had Bomb on earlier this year and last year and always love when Gary is on. Great conversation. So happy you told me about this competition it was exciting from the moment you told me about it.
Scott: Great to meet you after we've been talking on the forum for a while now. You're a great dude and I really love your saber setup/background display. Really feels like you're in a spaceship as well.
JBKuma: Thank you for stopping by, you're always doing something cool in the Mad Science Workshoppe
Iggy and JediSeth: We talked about your works even though you werent there. Both awesome entries thank you so much for taking part in the Flashgun Challenge. JediSeth's entry surprised us as many of us hadn't realized he entered! Everyone had such a unique take on this.
Harris: Thank you for being my partner in this! Harris had to take some abuse as we constantly had take apart the hilt we made and put it back together again several times to make things fit properly. It took two to make this one happen.
Funny thing was YODA called at the end of the broadcast, but I thought it was my dad or mom and hit the end button to call them back later, then ended the show and found out we missed YODA. Sorry YODA! Hopefully he will catch the show in the rerun. Yoda and I will do a show to make up for it later, probably beginning of November.
If ANY of you guys ever want to come back on and chat sabers,... even if there isn't a contest or a good reason, let's do it anyway! Lot's of fun to talk to a bunch of experts like you.

Canyon was yours truly. I decided to throw something together one weekend, I just happen to have a flash laying around. It was fun to enter and thanks again FJK for hosting the contest. Congratulations to the winners, excellent work!
Say Wha?! Tricksey little memberses. Great job, Seth, it was one of my votes. Now that you're outed, I can see the tells, but without a tip that you're playing, I never would have guessed it was you.
P.s. is it Canon or Canyon?
I’m a tricky wabbit. I didn’t want to open my mouth about entering until the contest was over. Thanks buddy! I loved seeing all the sabers. Such nice work all of them.
Opps Canon. Stupid progressive text.

#FlashgunChallenge - Hands down, my favorite thing about 2020 so far. More than my custom proton pack, more than Figuring out that Korben Dallas blaster...
#swbeerfridgechallenge came really close, but the live show edged it out. :cheesy: I'd be absolutely tickled to join another Saber Talk.

I listened while I was driving to Saber Talk yesterday. I was nice to see a few faces to the names. I wanted to attend, but wasn’t able. Saber talks with Anthony are awesome. Sorry buddy I wasn’t on, it was a great show. You and Harris’s saber was absolutely unique and amazing.

Over 100 views so far, maybe this will bring some new members and deactivate some who may have drifted away!
-
I totally missed out on voting (darn honeymoon! ), but congratulations to all the participants - I'm blown away by the creativity and quality of these entries considering the contest limitations!
-
Thanks, man! As long as you enjoyed the show, all are winners.
I mean, there aren't any trophies... but if there were, we'd all have one...

"Stellar, Evil Ted!"
Thanks for the shout. I added it to my video descriptions. :azn:

Thanks Eastern...but don’t thank me, I think you and one or two other people who read this thread will see it :). And the other 3 subscribers to my channel who all reside under the same roof as I do :). Wouldn’t have had the contest or my first (painful) show off without your initiative!
-
Missed out on the live stream video. Sorry about that. Lots of stuff going on this past weekend. Been rearranging my house.
I’ll have to post a video about my saber at some point. I’ve been meaning to do a couple for a while now as I recently made a black and decker saber too.
To answer a couple questions that were brought up the Wetzlar saber does come apart with a twist in the middle. That was part of the flash’s original body and it came apart in the middle to access the batteries. I added structure internally to the front and back to retain the twist feature.

Post a show-off thread in the gallery. That should get some more attention. Plus, I wouldn't be the only one.

About time you poked your head in, Iggnacious. I voted for yours. :)

Thanks E! And I yours.
I almost did some olive oil weathering, but the brass and bronze wouldn’t have shown out as well. :azn:

Hey everyone, I finally did my full reveal video on the contest winner EXO FLEX Ancient Graflex.
For the others that took part in the Flashgun Challenge, please list your video URL here so I can post in my description. I have Scott's and Eastern's already. Thanks everyone,
