Here's a video of me and my Vader ESB.  It looks like I'm swinging the saber alot harder and faster than I actually am, which I suppose is a good thing.

Yo LeatherWings, the photographs are AWESOME! They look EXACTLY like in the movies with the white core (xxx, I still can't get my camera to do that!). I also like it when both the lightsabers are on, they give a purple aura...

Thanx man.  And to think, at one time I wasn't sure if $100 was worth it for one of these babies!  I spent so much time reading all the reviews and looking at all the pix on this website to decide if I should spend the money to buy an FX saber.  And the ironic thing is, all that time trying to decide if $100 is worth spending on an FX saber, and I lost $300 in Vegas in two nights! ...coulda bought THREE more sabers for that much!!!  :'(

Hey, LeatherWings... can you give me some info on your camera settings...i.e. ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, etc. I wanna take photographs with the white core too! Then it's gonna be like in the movies...

Well most of the pix I took were with a Nikon Coolpix 2200 digital camera.  I also used a Visioneer MX 200 digital camera for all the videos I've made and for the three pix here:

I really don't know the ISO, aperture or shutter speed settings because I dont think I can adjust them, but you would probably want a setting that allows for maximum light saturation.  When I was taking the pictures I wouldn't use the "auto" or "preset" settings.  But I am guessing you may want high ISO and low aperture settings.  And of course, I didn't use any flash in the pics.

I don't know if that helps any but here's a link to a post by Meridian where he explains the white core effect with digital cameras: http://fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=390.msg7416#msg7416

Good luck!

Oh yeah, Here's another pic of how good the FX can look even with lots of daylight:

I'm using a Panasonic DMC-FZ2. It is impossible to get the white core from the Vader ESB, I'll get the orange core. With the Anakin ROTS, the photograph below is the most 'white-corish' that I can get ... I even had to use the auto-level (brightness, contrast, gamma) in ACD Foto Canvas to get improve it a little. Anyway, the highest ISO my camera is capable of is 400. I'm gonna try some daylight shots some other time. Oh, and btw, my blade doesn't look like it has a solid colour. The duracell m3 batteries show 75% power (all three of them). Does this mean some of my leds are gone?

By accident, I took a photograph of the Vader's ACTUAL colour. It looks a very beautiful and solid red... no orange core... just the RED BLADE ...

S3an,

I believe it depends on the camera (mine is VERY low definition).
Here is a picture of my Anakin ROTS with the room lights on.

WHAT THE?!? Your photograph looks AWESOME! (So frustrated with my camera now). hey, brazilian jedi, that photo reminds me so much of Episode 4, when Obi wan shows luke the lightsaber. The colour is light bluish...

I'm gonna try the camera phone in my friend's sony ericsson camera phone now...

I took that picture using the Night Mode of the camera.. so the light of the saber receives an "upgrade".

  • My favorite... Aayla

that's around noon with the blinds down and no flash on the camera.  It's a Fujifilm Digi, I don't remember the exact model.
