This saber stand features a pixel blade, a few rings and strips powered by an ESP8266. It's controlled through a control panel either by desktop or on my phone, and is also tied in to my home automation system for dimming and turning on and off according to lighting scenes. It can charge a saber either via pigtail to the charge port, or through the blade socket using one of my pixel blade adapter kits.
Inspired by Madcow's Boiling Blade stand (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rr0wAkIVj3g)

Dude that is so cool!! Makes me want to make one but rather than the boiling bit it would be the Praetorian Guard head

This is freaking amazing man. I'm sure someday you'll invent warp drive too :)

I will echo what he said just a stormtrooper head\helmet instead.

Very nice! Extremely well done.

It should be pretty easy to make such a helmet version of this depending on the angle you want the saber going into the helmet. Obviously straight down would be the easiest. The cost is really just dependent on the helmet since those are either going to be like $40 or $200+ to source. I have a pretty good idea of how to make i

Oh man. You could do a whole stand out of foam core with the helmet on top and have a full blade in the head that could be pulled out. haha I guess that would negate a lot of the technical goodies though.
-
@DC I guess that would be more of a floor stand than a shelf, although you have given me another idea ..
-
Or you could make the entire blade go through the helmet sideways. Just an idea...

Awesome! I too have a homebrew home automation/security system. I've been thinking about adding a pair of crossed sabers as a wall lighting accent, but this is way cooler! Plus, it actually has a practical purpose.

Thanks! I have cross sabers set up too, I just haven't gotten around to lighting them up yet. we are probably going to move later this year, so I probably won't really do anything with that until we relocate. I have some fun ideas for that too...
