You can save space by using two Alkaline 9v batteries in parallel, but your run time is gunna suck.

9v lithiums ran in parallel will work better, giving longer run times, but will be VERY expensive.

You can use any charger anywhere in the world with a simple adapter.  My cell phone came with adapters to let me charge my cell phone anywhere in the world.

$15 adapter kit:

You can use 3x 3volt Lithium CR123 batteries.  Those will save space, are very cheap, and can be found everywhere.

These 3.6v primary lithium thionyl chloride batteries are 1/2 AA sized, are used in cameras and so the current is adequate for a Luxeon V.  You could place two of them in a single AA holder to get the voltage you need.  More expensive, but the most compact solution:

Thanks ultra...

I just found out that the Ultrafire charger I got is multivoltage anyhow and uses figure8 leads which I have for most every country I would ever visit.  So I'm slightly off the need for no-rechargables... but only slightly.  I'm going to make note of what I've found and put it someplace online for others.  It's been a real eye-opener how many different power sources one can get. :)

In the end... I've found that 1 9v Lithium battery WILL power a Lux III for a while with "good" brightness.  I'd say about the same brightness as a stock FX or a little better to my wife's eyes.  But that only lasts about 10 mins tops.  This is via a CF core btw.  I've tested this and this is now fact in my world.  :)

As you might guess... since I've been looking for a LuxV or K2(min) solution... this is not going to work.  Oh-well...

Thanks again for all your help everyone.

PS: Be warned... I still have ONE last question for this forum before I complete my first saber.  ;D
