Hey guys and gals, I hope there is hope out there for me! I'm having a tough time with this lightsaber.

I feel like I have wired it well. It was working for a while I recorded this short test:

CF 8 works! - YouTube

Five minutes after that test, I thought I should add some Mace Windu quotes. While testing that newly done SD card with Mace quotes,... the saber is only playing the menu selection sound when I pull the kill key. Nothing does anything now... aux doesn't work... saber won't turn on... I"m simply in the menu and can't get out. I reformatted the SD card multiple, multiple times. I even just switched to a new SD card. Same thing.

Any ideas? I even reverted back to a previous default set of files. Same thing. I"m so confused. Do you guys think my AUX button is doing this? My wiring? How is this happening? Saber was JUST working fine a few minutes previous!!!

The aux pad is possibly fried (high voltage injected in the switch). Check your switch action / wiring and measure also the aux pad with nothing attached to it, it should be 2.5V.

Thanks Erv.

With power to the saber I get 1.42 on the aux pad and 2.4 on the activation pads

damage to the aux internal pull up
you can :
- use pudis=1 in override
- add 1k or 100 ohm pullup resistor to 3.3V on both act and aux to try to fix this (not 100% guarantied it will work, depends how the internal pullup is damaged)

Thanks Erv.

I'm getting there.

100 ohm resistor in place. Tied it to both aux and act and the 3.3 pad

Using pudis=1 in override

My original problem of playing only the menu sound is gone!

One new problem: I pull the kill key and everything is fine, I get the sound font boot sound of whatever sound font it is selected. The activation button turns on the saber, but the aux is also turning off the saber and not being an aux button. Neither button is acting like an aux. The aux button activates FOC it seems though... when I hold it down. When I tap it, it turns off the saber (or activates the saber if it's off).

One idea I have: Should I disconnect the 3.3 power from the Activation button since I was getting a reading of 2.4 on that one ealier? And leave it on the aux button only (where I had the problem). Only thing is I don't know if the override figure we added does something I'm not aware of.

Thanks again for your help,
