CFv8 completly unresponsive, please help!
« on: August 06, 2017, 12:19:28 PM »
Hey guys, got a bit of an issue on my hands today.  I am installing a CFv8 hacked down to single cell, and i cant get it to respond at all.  The power on indicator led lights up when the voltage is applied, but the board does nothing.  I rewatched Erv's vidoe, and researched here on the forum.  It would appear that I correctly hacked it, but obviously I need a second opinion. I have only the essential elements hooked up to the board right now, and some pics at the link below.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Is there an SD card in it?  I couldn't see one.

The fact that it's completely unresponsive still makes me think it's the SD card.  Try formatting it (uncheck quick format) and then restore all of the default files.  See if you get anything from the speaker.  Also try bridging the activation pad with some tweezers to eliminate the possibility of a switch failure.

I had actually already tried the bridging,  and tried a new speaker to eliminate the possibility of a bad speaker.  Ill try the formatting now.  Usually tho, even with the sd card out, i will here s soft pop/click from the speaker when the voltage is applied.

Thank you for helping me btw darkside!!

Looks like the 10K resistor below the accent LED pads is lifted or broken or something.  That will cause an unresponsive board.

here I have circled what I believe to be your problem.  That is a pad right there that the 10K resistor goes on.  It looks as if the resistor is pushed back and the pad is shorted.

It looks as if you are correct chewy.  Thank you for chiming in!  Unfortunately,  when i went to clean it up a little, the resistor popped off completely and i cant seem to find it anywere
Can you tell me if the numbers on the front were 010, or O1C?  I have two bad boards that i was going to inquire on sending you soon for repairs, i could possibly pull the resistor from one of them

01C is what it says.  Its a 10K 0603 resistor.

Glad you got it sorted out.

One more quick question tho chewie.  Is the 0603 case code in IN or MM?
Thanks!
