3.5mm jack connector

Has anyone ever tried a 3.5mm stereo jack to connect a high power LED to the soundboard?

This is what I had in mind:


I'm wondering if such a connector can take enough current for this kind of application...

I would be more concerned with the terminals shorting while plugging in/out.

I'm no electronics expert, by far, but if the female side of that plug is all hooked up through N-Channel FETs then the only time there would be much juice flowing is when the LEDs are on.  Otherwise it should be basically zero current passing through there.

Someone w/ more knowledge, feel free to chime in, but I _think_ that's accurate.

My only concern is if the connector can take 2Amps or more of current flowing when the LED is powered
