I though you might enjoy those 2 new tutorial videos   8)

HOW TO CONVERT A CF or PC to single li-ion cell operation

You loose some volume and a bit of audio quality as regular (2 cell) CF and PC have improved audio quality thanks to a regulated audio engine

I'm fairly sure a lot of people are going to find that useful !  :)

asap. I had to realize today, after shipping a lot of orders, that I was out of PCBs !  :o
I'll place another order tonight to get some more. I might have a few left anyway, I have to check my storage boxes.

Incredibly interesting and useful tutorials. Easy to follow and very timely. Is there any chance you might consider also doing a video showing the way to add the "full powah" function to a saber with the PC. The wire diagrams exist, of course, but where the actual wires driving the second set are placed on the actual PC board is very hard to see in the pictures I've run across and it's a great mod for the brightness fans among us. If a good picture or video discussion of the mod has already been done (I've been unable to find one...), my sincere apologies, but would you mind posting a link? Many thanks! :)

Great tutorials!

This is just what I needed for an upcoming build. Thanks!

this opens... possibilities!  ^-^

how does it affect the performance of the board, if there is any difference?!

In practice, it doesn't change a lot. Working with a single cell obviously reduces the audio loudness but that's part of the bargain.

From a sound and electronic specialist point of few, having a regulated audio engine improves the sound SNR and isolation from the power section.

This doesn't mean the board will sound bad (otherwise I won't propose that hack) however, it's a bit like discussing recording microphones spectrum flatness : some purist will like using a neumann microphone but a SM58 still do very well !

Well, to be fair to the SM58, not everyone can sell a kidney (especially gigging musicians who drink a lot :))) for a Neumann and the SM58 has been used by a LOT of studios (as well as the SM57 :)))

I remember having a PC 1.5 running with an single 18650 and it worked very well. If there was a compromise in sound quality, it wasn't noticeable. The way I had the hilt ported for resonance made it quite loud, no compromises.  Also ran a single ledengin and two accents, no problem.

I still have my 2 kidneys and I do have / use a SM58 lol (I borrow neumann microphones at the Institute  ^-^).
The example was a bit extreme  ;)

That being said, the regulated audio engine was put in the work and designed after MadCow (Genesis Custom Sabers) back in the CFv4 era. In certain very specific cases (like extreme flicker) he kindly required to improve the SNR though it could be hardly heard.
Cause he cares a lot about details, as his sabers show

So I went back to the drawing table.

Converting the CF to single cell won't destroy the SNR per say, as things are much simpler with a single cell, power wise. You won't be disappointed by the sound quality !

well the pc 1.x had a 3.3v regulated audio not a 5v like the pc2 and cf.  Thats why you didn't notice a change.

sound good!  :D it's kinda too late for my current project (it took me too long to design a two cell solution to drop the design now), but for future builds the ability to drive the board from a single cell is definately a very interesting option!

thanks erv!
