I was very surprised at how much I love this saber.

yes you can really admire it for  a long time, i think its do with the subtle change in diameter and the contrasting colours, it is much nicer in person than on photos too, which is saying something

I switched my batteries with this saber and I was using Duracell Ultras well I went to Energizer Max and I saw a slight improvement in the brightness and how purple it looks actually has a richer purple to it.

syfo,

i have found that if you eyes are adjusted to the darkness, be it outside or just a dark room, (this takes about 10-15minutes to become fully adjusted)  the blade appears more purple, than if you just switch it on in a lit room or say turn out your lights and switch it on.

outside from a distance of about 10'+ it looks ace.

i personally have energizer ultimates in all my sabers, these are the most powerfull alkaline that energizer make in the UK.  the lithiums i think give out the same output, but just would last longer, i dont want to spend almost enough money to buy a new saber on some longer life batteries

I have found that the Energizer Max give a little bit better  performance in the Luke ROTJ the Vader ESB the Mace ROTS and Luke ESB than the Duracell Ultra or even the E2 Titanium and they cost less, but I still use E2 Litiums in the Anakin ROTS I dont know why but they are the only batteries that work great all the rest suck

I did notice this. I noticed that when you go outside and let your eyes adjust, it looks a lot more purple than when you first turn it on.

Personally, I LOVE the Mace saber. It is my first and only (so far) and I love it the most. My cousin has an Anakin RotS and my friends have a Vader ESB and a Luke RotJ. I haven't gotten to hold or see the Luke RotJ in person so I can't judge it, but as for the Vader ESB, I liked it, but it just didn't seem as exciting as the Mace RotS to me, and I really like the Anakin RotS, but the Hilt seems so lights and the grips so small, after having the Mace for so long.
