  • You think I'm mad? Guess what,... I'm Darth Matth!
I wrote a topic a while ago, when I bought two lightsabers for the first time.
http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=1674.0
I expected more.
Now I sold my Vader ESB and bought the new ANH version and that hilt is really scary.
The light is a little bit better and the sound a little louder too, but the hilt,... whoooh the hilt is one heavy, and real feeling lightsaberhilt, and I'm sooooo sure that they have stolen the real lightsaber from Vader and took the cristal out and turned it in to a FX.
But,... if you have an ESB,... well,... yes, if you can get the same money for it, or a bit less, like I did, than change it for this one.

I only have to check one thing because I didn't see this beforeon the reviews here.
The controlebox is like 45 degrees off compared with the ESB.
If you have it on the stand and the metal ring is above, than on the ESB, the controlbox is right down on the opposite side.
On this ANH version the controlbox is on the left a little.
I looked at the pictures very carefully ad for the first time I saw it, and it's supose to be so
.
Only one question for you folks.
The metal handle that sticks out on the controlbox, I cannot move it, is that supose to be like this?
I thought you could move that up and down, but no.

And now the biggest surprice,... although for me it was.
I bought the Yoda too, and MAN WHAT A PIECE OF BEAUTY.
This is what I call A REAL LIGHTSABER.
It's almost 3 to 4 times brighter than the Anakin ROTSrots
It's almost 3 to 4 times brighter than my Anakin ROTS.
Man this thing is bright, man this thing hurts my eyes.
Maybe because it's in the evening now, when I fired this thing.
I first I looked at my Ani before, but than,...
Really I did not thought MR could surprice me like this.
I really love this one.
I thought, the hilt would be to big for a Yoda saber, But this thing is really small.
Beautyfull small.
It feels like a really beautyfull one-handed nice saber.
And forget that this is a Yoda.
It is the most beautyfull one-handed lightsaber there is.
And soooohhh bright.
This is what all the sabers are suposed to be.
And that this thing uses three AAA batteries is unbelieveble.
How are they doing this?
I only think that the batteries can't live that long.

Ohh yes, one question again,...
Is the new Luke ANH just as bright as the Yoda, at least compared with the Ani as Yoda is compared with the Luke ROTJ?

Greetings from
Darth Matth.

I have to make a new picture for below.

Ohh and, sorry iff I'm to enthousiast.
Its because, I had never expected this.

I think it's a bit more clear now.

Now The problems are here already.
At first:
The Yoda has a flickering LED.
I didnt saw this right away because it so bright, but after my wife poited here finger on it,i constant seeing the darker ring around the blade. sometime it's on again.
I wrote to MR for this and they've send me a return label.
The Vader did verry strange the first time I put the battery-pack in.
It goes on and off all the time, but after moving the pack a bit the problem seemed over.
That was because I only looked at the saber for two day's and moved it a lot of times.
But today I tapped it against my other sabers and the blades goes on and off again and when I press against the side of the blade te sound stops too.
When I put the batterypack from my Vader ESB in it( a defect one I still had with some broken LED's) The problem is gone, only the sound of that battery holder is not as dark (or round or something) as the ANH-pack.
The difference between the two is that the ANH pack is a bit shorter.
Later I saw the problem more clearly.
If I take the battery-pack out, I can move the blade, in and out the hilt a bit.
When putting my finger in the battery-pack place, I can feel the inside go up and down a bit.
So the battery-pack don't connect verry well.
I just wrote MR about this, so I hope to get answers tomorrow.
Only the problem is that I wrote two day's ago, that my Vader was alright, but I explained this hole story in the e-mail.
The only thing I don't like is that I'm without the two new sabers again, after waiting for two weeks already.
This sucks.
I only have one question again for you folks.
I already payed $56,-- shipment to get the sabers in Holland from the Sabervault.
Do I have to pay the shipment again to Master Replica or can I send it on their acount with Fedex.
Or do they send them back, when I do that.
Does anyone have experiens with this.

Darth Math living in the UK I've never been able to send sabers directly back to MR, but Id like to take the opportunity and say that in some ways cases like this make me glad theres going to be a change over to custom sabers as MR loses the licence.

As someone else on the boards has said it is a complete lottery as to whether of not you get a fully functional item. Too many times brand news fx lightsabers are delivered with broken LED's, scratches, electrical faults, and for the price I think this is boardering on unnaceptable. My brother had to send his vader back twice and he still ended up with one that is perppered with blacked out LEDs, seemingly through poor manufacture.

I love the MR lightsabers when you get one that works, but too often that is sadly not the case.

I had that with the Vader ESB too 2 years ago.
They send a new saber twice, and they where not perfect either.
That time they let me keep the sabers i found that verry kind of them.
It was a metter of trust too, for them in me because they didn't see my sabers.
Now it's differend.
I have to send them back, only I don't want to pay the return shipmentcost.
The first sending was expensive enough, and they had be be perfect in the first place..
I'm going to try it with there Fedex account.

UPDATE
I received a return label for the Yoda saber with Fedex.
The man at Fedex asked me who will pay the bill, and on the returnlabel stood the accountnumber from MR so they will pay the hole shipment.
So it's a nice clean replacement, and it works very good because Fedex is picking it up from my home within 2 ours.
A few things you have to put on the box, like: valeu $100,--, weight 1.5Kgr, Toy, To be replaced, The returnlabel (3 times, one on the box and two in a pouch.
Because of what people say about replacements, I kept my Vader ANH, because I've put a rubber ring in the endcap to press the battery-pack to the contacts, and now it is working good.
No movement anymore.
So the reason I'll keep mine is because the blade is very good, and the sound is so beautyfull with this battery-pack-speaker.
Iff I chenge that one with the ESB pack the sound is not as round.
I dont know iff they've renewed the pack-speakers or that I'm lucky with this one, not the length (See above review) but the sound.
