Independent Contractors Warranty

Limited Warranty covers defects in workmanship for the Product for a period of 90 days from the original date of Receipt from SABERWORKS.

This Limited Warranty does not cover any damage due to (1) Acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence, improper handling, commercial use or modifications of this Product,warranty does not cover Explosives Ordinance Disposal "disarming" the saber, or normal wear and tear; (2) Improper operation or maintenance of this Product; or (3) Attempted repair by any party other than SABERWORKS.* This Limited Warranty does not apply where it is determined by SABERWORKS that there is no fault with the Product itself. Repairs not covered by the Limited Warranty may, at SABERWORKS's discretion, be carried out at the Owner's expense.

The Owner shall be responsible for the cost of shipping the Product to,  and return shipping from, SABERWORKS.

Electronics, such as soundboards, batteries and LEDs are not warranted by SABERWORKS, as SABERWORKS did not originally produce them.

Crystal Focus Repairs must be preformed by Plecterlabs. Owner will be responsible for any fees this incurs.

Ultrasound Boards are covered by Ultrasabers Warranty, and will need to be returned to Ultrasabers for service/replacement.

MR/Hasbro Boards failure will require replacement at Owner's expense.

*If you attempt to repair it yourself, the warranty is void. The saber will be repaired, but it will be at the Owner's expense.
This Limited Warranty is non transferable.
Damage incurred in the course of dueling shall void any and all warranties stated or implied.

Independent Contractors Member Repair Services
Independent Contractors sabers can be sent at the Owner's expense to an authorized guild repair technician, should sending it to the original SaberSmith be unavailable.
The Independent Contractors Repair Technician will then review the saber and compare it to the submitted photos or build log to determine if the necessary repair is due to defect in workmanship or due to operator error.
In the event of operator error, an invoice for the repair work must be paid by the Owner before the saber will be returned to the Owner.
If the failure is determined to be due to a defect in workmanship, the Independent Contractor Repair Service shall invoice the original Sabersmith, and no charge will be applied to the customer,  save for return shipping.
In the event a saber has been sold by the original Owner,  the current Owner shall cover all  repair costs, including, but not limited to, a standard $25.00 Workbench diagnostic Fee.


Limited Digital Warranty:
This digital warranty is an addition to the “Limited Warranty” already in place above by SaberWorks, and pertains to digital files/data/models only.
 
SaberWorks/Rusty Raven is not responsible or liable for any changes of the models/data/textures/ect not made by authorized modelers/designers/artists/engineers/machinist/ect, and voids the warranty of those specific files. Any changes/modifications/rebuilds requested to be done to such modified files will incur regular charges.
 
SaberWorks/Rusty Raven is not responsible or liable if the owner chooses a machinist/fabricator that uses proprietary file types for their machines. Said machinist/fabricator should have the ability to export the files you have into their proprietary file type. If the machinist/fabricator requires a specific non-proprietary file type for their system to export to their proprietary file type, the owner can request a free copy of said exported file(s).
 
If another USB flashdrive with the original files and/or new exported files is requested, the owner is responsible for all shipping and handling charges.
 
At-Fault Post-Build Modifications:
After the completion of a build, any required modifications because of failures of the model(s) themselves to be used in the processes of 3D printing, machining, or other physical fabrication method as a result of craftsmanship of Rusty Raven, is covered under this warranty for 90 days.
However, extensive changes that constitute rebuilding the saber as a result of the inherent design will only be covered up to the cost of 4 hours of work time for 90 days for both Basic and Premium services

Rusty Raven Basic Custom Service
3D Builds: For use in 3D printing, CNC Machining, or many other fabrication processes, we can design your custom saber and saber parts to your specifications. We start with a prebuilt “blank” two-piece model design of a main body/emitter and pommel.
*OD: 1.25”
*ID: 1.10”
*Blade Holder ID: 2” deep x 1”
*Total Length: 12” (minimum of 8” to allow for electronics)
 
What I need from you:
A sketch. Hand drawn, illustrated, CAD drawing, ect. The image must be clear (i.e. scans with heavy pencil erasure marks, lots of pens sctraches must be cleaned up, and images must be a minimum of roughly 1024 x 800). For your convenience, you can use the image below to help you design your saber to scale (I suggest using MS paint).
**Some designs may require the “Premium Custom Service” seen below. Examples of this could be organic designs like the Legacy Era One Sith type sabers, or certain SW:TOR MMO sabers; some curved designs may fall into this category.
 
What you’ll get:
Once completed and final payment is received and accepted, you will be mailed, via USPS, a copy of all related files on a USB thumbdrive. With this you can take these files to your choice of machinist service, 3D printer service like shapeways or other fabrication service. The USB thumbdrive will include known required file formats for each service, and a text document to help designate which are which.
 
For full saber builds, you’ll also get two beauty renders (one turned off, one ignited w/blade color of choice) for you to use as a desktop wallpaper, print and hang on your wall, display with your new saber, ect… Parts will come with one final beauty render.
 
Delivery Time:
Upon start of build 2-8 weeks, depending on list placement and design complexity.

Rusty Raven Premium Custom Service
An extensive design service for 100% scratch builds of your intricate and complex designs for custom/replica sabers, saber parts, and props. Since premium builds are usually time consuming, these are taken on a case-by-case basis, as some designs/projects can be quite extensive. For example, your project may call for multiple versions like an artist proof and a production model.

Delivery/Build Time:
A minimum of 1-2 months and up to 10+ months is possible. Some designs will take more work-time than others depending on complexity and list placement (these are worked on in conjunction with the basic services list as a result). Some can take 8-10+ work hours, others 20-40+ work hours. Multiple parts, complex internal dimensions (i.e. integrated chassis, reveal type sabers ala Luke ROTJ cave scene saber, ect), moving parts, ect will take more time.

$200 non-refundable retainer fee is required before the start of any build.

Shipping:
All shipping is done through USPS, and included in the first deposit. Please message for international charges.
 
Late-Change-Fee:
As requested by the client after the start of the build, and taken on a case by case basis. For multiple minor changes and extensive changes, this can and will incur a minimum charge of $20. Any additional work time over the original price/quote will be charged accordingly, and all late-change-fee charges must be paid before delivery of files.
 
Updates: I will send a maximum of three updates a week, which will include renders to show progress.
* From time to time, even the simplest of designs can have issues when transitioning from 2D to 3D. If an update is sent with a question about any issues that arise, the build can and will be stalled if you do not respond. SaberWorks/Rusty Raven is not liable if a build becomes late because the person did not respond after repeated attempts at contact.
 
Shipping:
At the completion of the build and when final payment is received, you will be mailed a copy of all related digital materials on a USB flashdrive via USPS. This includes, but not limited to, 3D model data (native build file(s) and required export files for machining/printing), notes, images (such as renders, textures, sketches, illustrations, templates, blueprints), animations, ect.

NOTICE:
All files/data/models/textures created for a specific build will never be released to anyone else without the owner’s written consent. A back-up is kept in case the owner requires a replacement for last files/thumbdrive(s). The owner may request such backup files to be deleted at any time. If the owner loses the files and requires a new set, a new build will have to be started at regular prices.
 
Files/data/models/textures of any physical custom and replica sabers, parts, props, pieces, greeblies, etc created and offered by Saberworks/Rusty Raven, will NOT be sold unless otherwise stated per item. However, an altered version can be created from scratch at regular prices.

Build Log:
We will only be taking on six(6) people at a time for the “Basic Service”, with a limit of two builds per person at a time (depending on the time/complexity). The “Premium Service” is limited to one(1) to two(2) people at a time, depending on how complex the requested build projects are.
*If you wish to remain anonymous, a random project name will be created for public record keeping.

Could you also do conversions? Like, for instance, if one gave you a CGI model in a rather basic format like obj or something, could you translate that to a CNC mill program given that you know what mill to do it for?

Yes I can do conversions. It could just be a quick exporting, which would be a much smaller fee, or a new build, albeit on top of the older model. It just depends on what you need done. The example you posted would require a new CAD build on top of the OBJ model, so that it can be properly exported into whichever file type the machine's program requires (.iges, .dwf, .stle, ect...). A simple exporting wouldn't work because OBJ models are based on a different types of modeling conventions.

HOWEVER, if the model wasn't created by you, I require the authorization of the model's original creator. Otherwise it's recasting, or digital recasting as it were, and that's theft. Even if you bought the model from a 3D store, or downloaded it from a free release, I still need written consent from the creator, with him/her understanding that I am charging a fee. IF they say yes, it possible they might require a percentage. As I would be making a copy of THEIR work, it would be only fair.
