Hello. Well, I've just bought a mini anakin light saber. It's a japan license.
I don't know what technologie they use, but I guess that it would be terrific on MR FX!!!

I'm not sure either, but looks like some kind of time delyed NEON lighting.

If it's neon, then it would not make a good FX lightsaber because Neon needs to be incased in Glass and glass shatter upon impact.

It could also be Plasma. Which would explain the large distance between the lighting shell and blade shell.

I would bet that is some kind of low votage plasma saber. Which is dangrous in a larger 1:1 scale.

If that were green it would look a lot like a Yoda saber.

Goes to show that they can fit a power supply and some sort of light arrangement into a saber that small, maybe if they used a luxeon they could make a close to real sized yoda saber

I'm am pretty certain that's a plasma saber.  A lot of Japanese ones used them, like TOMY sabers.

On a side note laptop is FUBAR, I'll be out for a few days.

i like the effect. 

a larger version is obvisouly going to need a lot more power.  it appears to be encased within a case, so it is perhaps plasma.     the tubing would be bigger than an FX though if made full size looking at the apparent size on the video.

It actually reminds me of the Japanese Tomy neon saber which was a forerunner to the FX.
