CFX FW walk through
« on: December 02, 2019, 10:56:52 AM »
Has anyone done a walkthrough for Fw updates on the CFx? The section in the manual is not all that clear (to me), I've been gleaning info from other sources but as of yet I don't have a clear idea of where to start

and the video ? Also did you learn first how to use the serial terminal / log the board (in the manual as well). Sort of per-requisite to do an update with monitoring, as suggested in the PDF

Have not located a video. But I'm reading up on the section of the manual "Board Diagnostics and debugging" again. I've loaded doclight, now just trying to make sure I have my ducks in a row before I start messing around in the board itself

So here's what happened.
I did get the board to talk to the computer, I was in the process of getting the update ready when the board lost power. The battery is at full charge, and in good shape. I tested with the meter and the board itself was getting juice. Just not booting when the kill key was pulled out. No red light on the board either.
I changed the SD card contents twice after formatting the board and no change. So at this point I have exhausted all the probable issues I can cover with what I have here at my work bench.
I'm not really impressed with how this has gone so far
Erv, I thank you for your help. More than likely I'll be back on here to review posts and trouble shoot the new board I ordered. I'm thinking I'll send the board out for diagnostic/repair while I'm waiting on the new one to arrive.

The video is linked in the manual in the FW upgrade section. As for power I dont' kown. The board starts the program with lighting up the red (onboard) led so if you don't even get this, it's probably not getting power. Check the voltage map first.

Found the video. Thank you. Checked power and nothing again. Got ahold of chewy and sending it off to him. I'll keep you updated.
Thank you again

Update on this thread/issue.
I did get a new board, wired and set up exactly the same. With no issues. Just some minor tweaking of the sound (purchasing new optimized fonts), and config files to get the smoothswing working.

Thanks again Erv for the quick response and the help.

thank you for the update on this. Did you get any update on the board that would not power up anymore ?
