$5 computer the size of a sound card. I sense potential!

I thought so too, but I've gone off the idea.

It's really very big compared to a normal soundboard, certainly too wide for a saber-hilt without modification.

In addition, it needs various adapters and extensions to work that stick out sideways: Again you'd need to re-solder some parts.

After all of that, it only has one way of getting an audio signal out, and that is via its HDMI port.
 
I'm sure you COULD do something with it, and if successful then that could be spectacular if you were able to add x,y,z axis accelerometers etc, but I think it's a long hard road. Arduino is the better option in my totally non-expert opinion and a few people have blazed the trail already so there are some resources on the subject.

Fair enough. I thought the $5 price point was a xxx of a good start.
