Title: Graflex Vintage ESB
Post by: erv on November 23, 2009, 11:11:25 AM
not really "my work" but.... I thought I thought I could post that as a review of Master Yoda AWESOME WORK !!!  :o :o

Vintage Graflex Ep V with chassis and tangible Crystal Chamber made by Master Yoda (Meridian). The crystal chamber lights up with a primary crystal illuminated with a accent LED mirroring the luxeon V (flicker) while 2 others (blue & white) illuminate the secondary crystal thru a little optic fiber.
My customization works was really nothing on that one, most of the work was made by Meridian. I added a recharge port to avoid getting the li-ion cells out (14500), a rumbling motor and I of course wired myself the CF board ;-)
Luxeon V blue bin 1, CF 4.31 with rain sizzle & episode V among others.

On this new chassis (not the latest one but close), aside of the increasing quality and extended realism, the blade activation is now done by the little sliding tab on the left side of the upper body. The upper red button (vintage) is the aux button for Force & Lockup Fx, as well as navigation in the vocal menu. The lower red button is the blade retention screw.

Wow.... YODA's work never fails to amaze! :o

Great work on the modifications, without your incredible sound-board, we would all be at a loss ;D.

Master Yoda, another stellar job!

Wow Erv, you took your time for this review, and it payed off.
Very clear, always very informative.
It's always nice to see you around here, since you're a bussy man.

I have a Graflex too, not Vintage by choise, but I understand the specialty of it.
That in-hilt charge with the kill-key in it,... stunning.
Not surpricing though, since you manage to invent a CF-Board. :D :D :D
Without you this lighsabers would never be as real as they are now.

Like Watto said, the combination of you three people is a great add for our world.

Anyway you could take pictures of the top half of the chassis removed from the upper shell? I'm curious how the slider switch works and how the CF is mounted...ect. Sweet saber for sure!

I won't disassemble that part now, saber is done.

CF sitting is like in here, very similar.

You also have Yoda's chassis presentation in the guild section, Graflex sabers subsection.
As for the sliding tab, it's pushing a mom switch in a machined slot of the blade holder.

I have hold that baby in my hands personally like a lot of Erv's creations, I had the chance to meet Erv several time.
This result come from the fact that not only skilled, but socially intelligent people can do in a teamwork:
that mean, in my humble point of view, that each of these people was able to make his stuff work with another hardware part*

We tend to naturally work alone, because it is faster and easier on our project. Sometime things get that complicated that a teamwork is necessary. This work is a master piece and prove that fine artisan works can going just more far and better than mass industry allows us.

*this is not true for a lot of electronic-for-props, adaptability is the important part of a good engineered system you want to sell, not everybody seem to understand that  ;D

Yoda does some very nice work. Hopefully My saber will look like this when I'm done. It took years to gather everything needed to do it especially the crystal chassis kit. Finally when the CF 5 arrives the project will start.
