MR 2002 Darth Vader ANH "Signature Edition" Replica
« on: March 08, 2006, 04:49:29 PM »

Vader Signature Series Number 473 of 1000 produced
Signed by David Prowse (left) and James Earl Jones (Right). David Prowse was the actual embodiment of Darth Vader. He is the one who wore the suit in all 3 Original movies. James Earl Jones was, of course, the Voice of Darth Vader.

Darth Vader Signature Edition
Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith and one of the most feared figures in the galaxy, rules alongside his Master, the Emperor. Once promising young Jedi Anakin Skywalker, he gave into his anger and turned to the dark side. Though transformed from Jedi to Sith, Vader retains his most-powerful weapon: his lightsaber.

Vader's lightsaber prop used in Star Wars: A New Hope was in reality an antique flash gun. This flash gun was originally produced in England in the 1930's and 1940's. For conversion to a lightsaber, ILM added a 6-bubble clear display panel taken from an old calculator and rubber grips along the base. A D-ring was also added to the front shroud.

During filming, the original release lever on the lightsaber's "control box" was apparently damaged and the piece was re-attached using a metal connector similar in appearance to a nail. Otherwise, the flashgun was relatively unmodified.

This one is definitely a great looking lightsaber. I'm still a bit puzzled about why the control box is mounted at an angle. Very nice!

Haha. I just wonder because when I got my mini of this saber in a couple days ago I thought it was defective. I tried to twist the control box to the center, but when it wouldn't budge, I went on the internet to look for pics. Surely enough, it wasn't defective. :D
