Hey everyone. There's a seller on eBay who was selling the mini Obi-Wan AFBB for $30, but he went down to $20. He has 11 left if anyone is interested. Here's the link to the item:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=6618886284
If anyone wants this, you probably won't find a better price in the future. I bought one myself.
Get while the gettin's good. :)
-
The shipping is quite abit for the saber, but I do think it is one of the nicest looking minis to date.
-
nice find. I just picked one of these up on ebay a few days ago for $25 ($28.75 shipped)
EDIT:
I purchased this along with a Dooku AOTC mini from the same seller. The combined shipping for both was $7.50, or $3.75 shipping for each mini.
-
That's a nice deal.
The shipping on this one is a bit high, but I guess it's because he's using UPS. Not my ideal shipping method, but the total comes out to a better price than the BIN prices of most of the AFBB minis that get listed.
-
Found a winner on the AFBB mini Aayla? Good to hear, it is a nice one. But since it is sort of EU it is a good idea to chase those deals rather than pay too much. (Kinda why I went with an Icons instead of the MR LE since I'd missed it on the first run :D )

nice find aayla!

That's cool that you got it, Snowballz, but how did you get it for such low shipping? Do you live across the street from him? :P
-
Cheap shipping isn't that unheard of. I got my Anakin ROTS LE with free shipping and a free Anakin ROTS mini.
-
It's only $4.05 to ship a mini via USPS Priority mail, and that's including the shipping box. $7.50 isn't underpriced for two, just that the seller isn't making much on the shipping charge. An FX shipped within the US via USPS Priority is only $9.
-
That's strange. The only option I was given was UPS, which was $11 and some change. I'd have preferred the cheaper USPS method.
-
That is an old ebay trick, drop the price and pump up the shipping and handling, but the price for UPS wasn't astronomical so I'd say its less about cost and more about being sure of the shipment, things have been known to mysteriously disappear from the post office.
-
that is an old trick.... its like...buy this master replicas FX lightsaber for $2.00! Shipping and H. $200.00 lol :)
-
Ths shipping charge actually hasn't changed. It's the same price it was before he lowered the price of the item. What I'm trying to figure out is how Snowballz managed to buy the same thing from the same seller but at such a lower shipping rate... and with USPS. ;)
-
if its "as first built", then it should not include the D-ring. :P
there was no D-ring on the ROTS version.
that would have been added sometime in between ROTS and ANH.
--> "as first built" should have a covertec wheel instead :P

Aahhh... I see the confusion now.
I didn't buy my Obi AFBB mini from the same seller as you. I bought it from a different seller that I also purchased a Dooku AOTC from and he combined the shipping. I was just saying that I got a good deal on an AFBB *also* ;)
I looks as if we've both been on an ebay buying spree on these minis... I seem to remember we started collecting them at about the same time. The $99 FX and mini sale, right? How many are you up to now?

Ahhhh okay. I get you know. That clears things completely up. ;)
Yeah, that's when I started as well. I'll forever curse MR for coming up with that deal. :D From the Vader ROTS I collected every widely released mini, with the exception of the Obi-Wan AOTC and the Count Dooku AOTC (not sure if its different from the ROTS). So I'm at 13 now. After getting that free Vader I was only going to get the minis that I liked best, but it turned out I liked most of them, so I ended up thinking, 'What the heck, I already have most of these why not get the last ones I don't have to have a mostly complete collection?' And sure enough, I did that. In less than two months I went from having zero to having 13 minis. :o :P
I'm already on the lookout for the Luke ESB and Vader ESB... there's are sellers on eBay that have them on sale already, but I'm waiting until they reach the $25 and under pricepoint. ;)

You're right. The AFBB (both the LE and the .45) were released before ROTS, so MR pretty much took a gamble and made replicas of what Old Ben's lightsaber would have looked like when it was brand new. Personally I prefer this one over the weathered one... it looks more like what I remember seeing in ANH.
-
On the AFBB debate I like the guy on RS who renamed it AFRBB (As First ReBuilt By), that is to say the ROTS Obi did not survive Mustafar in any sort of condition to be used again without some reconditioning.
It is funny how sabers can mulitiply. Just leave two alone in your room for a while and you have many many more before long. Now that you know it happens to FXs and minis, beware Aayla!! It is also true of LEs. :D
-
Yes, it is funny isn't it :D
-
yup! ;)

Actually the one used in ANH was the weathered one ;) (according to my source of information)
-
Was it? cooooooolio!
-
Well yeah, it's called "As first built by" for a reason. lol
-
Then why did you say "You're right. -
I said it looked more like what I remember seeing in ANH. I know they used the weathered version in the film, though. :)
-
Oh, I misunderstud you ::)
-
me too..lol ;)
-
Are you two competing over who can post the most? ;) I swear I get two pages of unread posts just from you guys.
-

-
Here, Here!
-
Are you two competing over who can post the most? ;) I swear I get two pages of unread posts just from you guys.
I'll slow down if you want :)
No we are not competing, the only reason you get loads of posts from us is because Ki-Adi-Mundi has take a break ;)
-
haha, yeah. I wanted to tell you all, that me and Ki-Adi have been talking, and he MAY return within a week....depends though, if he feels up for it. so, keep your fingers crossed! ;)
-
A week :o, alos when do you talk to him?, I have been trying for AGES ::)

-
yeah...... thats not wierd at all........
J/K :D
-
omg! lol...no man we are straighter than a pole...don't worry lol ;)
-
Anyway, we seem to have hijacked the thread a bit so lets get back to the topic ::)
-
good call my very young padawan! :D
-
Damned! Those guys never makes any shipping outside US!;)
I feel so far in France.......................
-
I know what you mean, Louis, it's no different in the UK.
-
I know what you mean, Louis, it's no different in the UK.
That's weird... most of the time I see a great eBay auction for a SW prop, it's from the UK.
-
Really? I didn't really mean ebay though. I meant most manufacturers won't ship here. I don't think MR will, and I know Gentle Giant won't. I would rather buy direct from the manufacturer if I could, but it's not possible.
-
MR do :)
-
you could always send it to a relative in North America and have them fly it to you...;)
-
MR do ship internationally ;)
-
But with the prices they want they might as well just say they don't. :D
-
Ya, it is 90 bucks to ship an FX to AU :'(
-
Ya, it is 90 bucks to ship an FX to AU :'(
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????
-
Yep :'(
-
Not just AU, all over the EU as well. Since MR uses only fully insured extra secured FedEx the international overseas shipping is astronomical.
-
I thought it would be chaper to EU
-
Wow, I'm glad I live in the US :D
-
I'm glad i'm your neighboor in CANADA! EY! ;) ;D
-
I just got my Obi-Wan AFBB mini! Woohoo!
It looks pretty cool, I'm going to open it in a bit and update my minis gallery thread when I get the chance. ;) For the $11 shipping price I can't understand why he simply packed it inside a yellow envelope. ::)
-
Aayla
Your Mini Galler must have the evoloution of both Anakin through Luke and Vader
as well as all the Obiwan's by now?
Do you have an ESB Luke mini on order yet from MR ;)
-
oh man! i whant the Luke ESB mini badly....but i ordered the Vader ESB instead....i still think it wasn't a bad choice...do any of you?
-
Eleven dollars for an envelop? That does sound a little fishy, but if you got it intact, I suppose it ended up ok. I certainly do like the idea of the AFBB even if ROTS make it a little more EU.
-
whats AFBB?
-
As First Built By ;)
-
woahhhhh spiffy kid! ;D well, you guys mean lucas studios right?
-

So far I just need the Luke and Vader ESB minis to be able to create that evolution. :) I'm waiting for the prices to go down on eBay. I figure I should be able to get them in the $20 price range before long. Only then, will the evolutions be complete. ;)
woahhhhh spiffy kid! well, you guys mean lucas studios right?
No... it means as first built by Master Replicas before they put it into the weathering process to create the original Obi-Wan ANH lightsaber. ;)
Just kidding. It's as first built by Obi-Wan. This mini (and the LE as well) was released before ROTS, before the Obi-Wan ROTS prop was created. So it was basically a guess with quite a bit of certainty as to what he would have in Episode III. It was an easy release, too, because all it is is the same lightsaber but with the appearance of being in brand new condition. :)
I like to think that Obi-Wan somehow damaged his lightsaber when he arrived on Tatooine... maybe in a fight with tusken raiders, so he had to rebuild the design using the same crystal and components that the original used. :P
-
Oooohhhhhhh! i see! thanks aayla
-
Your welcome.
From the inside flap of the box:
This version of the Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber represents a fascinating departure from previous replicas produced by Master Replicas. In addition to the time-worn version seen in the film, Master Replicas has chosen to offer a pristine version of the lightsaber as it might have looked when Obi-Wan Kenobi first built it. This elegant weapon features handsome black, silver, and brass detailing.
Old Ben's lightsaber is one of the most widely recognized weapons from the original trilogy. Its antique design harkens back to an earlier time, or as Obi-Wan puts it, "a more civilized age."
The Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber Scaled Replica has been reproduced in an exact 45% scale. That means that each detail is 0.45 times the original size. We hope that you enjoy this rare presentation of Obi-Wan's famous lightsaber.
-
I may have mentioned it in this thread already but I like the As First ReBuilt theory myself, but it would make more sense that it was the grueling Mustafar experience rather than a few trifling sand people that would require a rebuild.
-
The seller has lowered the price to $18... there's seven left. And if anyone needs an Anakin ROTS mini, he has some for $12.
-
That is a pretty good deal, even with the surcharge on shipping.
-
As i always say....its "Noice!"
-
$18, I would get one, but if its $11 to ship within the US I don't want to imagine what it is like shipping it internationally :P
-
probably like *Dr.Evil* one million dollars!
-
I would say around $40 at least, which means it is $60 for a mini :-\
-
woah, i think you could get a better deal being a 2006 CS member for cheaper. :)
-
Ya, but I don't really buy from MR much :-\
-
you have two FX's, that's like buying 10 SR's or one cheap LE.
-
I got one for Christmas ;)
-
same here buddy! you got the Vader or Luke for x-mas? I got my Ani ROTS
-
Actually it was my Luke ;)
-
nice!
-
Anyway, lets get back on to topic ;)
-
your right!
So, do you have any pics of this mini?
-
You can get some on RS :)
-
very true Admiral!
-
